Not sure this is rated 5 stars? Maybe the hotel possibly received a 5 stars rating 40 years ago and held onto it somehow. The hotel is old, tired and is in serious need of major renovations, refurbishment-possibly a total overhaul. Bath is cracked, fraying carpets, paint is lifting, etc., the list is endless. Besides very few staff understanding any... More

Okay so what I really wanted was to get a cabin in the jungle, away from the city, and just be completely immersed in the Amazon, far from everything. For a bunch of reasons, that didn't work out and we ended up staying at the Tropical. And it was totally fine. The hotel is located in the military zone of... More

After reading all the terrible reviews on Tripadvisor, I was hesitant to book a room here. I am so glad I did! When we arrived in Manaus, we stayed at Caesar Business for 3 nights before going to Anavilhanas Lodge in the forest. When we came back to Manaus, we stayed at Tropical for one night before flying to Rio.... More

Avoid. No need to expand. All the reviews here are correct. This is an old, tired hotel. Most (not all) of the staff are friendly and try to do their best but the hotel is simply sub standard, to put it mildly.

With a five star ratting our expectations where quite high, but sadly the hotel grossly missed the mark. When we arrived at the room there was this distinct smell of mold even considering the fact that we asked (and paid for) a "luxury room"(which we later found out that it is basically a remodelled room)... The hotel in its self... More

The hotel needs some updates but overall it was a great option for our family (three kids ages 9 and 5). Playing in the pool after a hot day of sightseeing in Manaus was an extra bonus. Kids made friends at the Tropic Kids, went fishing on the pier, played soccer. The rooms are comfortable, albeit outdated. Clean bathrooms, good... More

Ditto previous reviews re distance from lobby (significant esp when room key doesn't work), wifi, insufficient linen- only 2 small pillows, and 1 towel in a twin room, also dirty blankets. After check-in, adjourned to bar and studied drinks list....'sorry dont have listed wine by t glass', ' sorry none of t listed draught beer' , 'sorry no ginger beer/ale'....?!... More

We stayed here prior to going on the Amazon clipper tour. The room was large enough with a large king size bed & clean linen. Bathroom although clean had seen better days, the hairdryer may have dried hair in 80's but no more. There was air con but when on it sounded like la Vulcan bomber was in the room,... More

Big hotel with manu activities for all ages. It has a pool, dock for boat trips, gym, etc. Breakfast buffet has all types of brasilian food. The room air conditioner is not very strong and the TV is limited to very few channels. Overall, a good stay.
