This is a very interesting place and an accommodation frequently recommended by travel agents and frequented by flight crews as well as tourists waiting to catch flights home after an Amazon cruise. It's huge in its size and also in its scale which along with its rich dark woods, very high ceilings and extra wide halls overall makes it seem a... More

We stayed four nights at the Tropical in Manaus, two nights prior a cruise on the Amazon and two nights after. The resort is located close to the airport and the Playa Negra, where you can find great atmosphere and nice little food stalls at night. The resort has so much potential, but unfortunately is pretty run down. I'm sure... More

We stayed at this hotel 20 years ago. It was so much better then! The structure and halls are beautiful. Location is good if you are meeting river transport. But quite a distance to the city. Food was mediocre.

The resort is very clean, relatively peaceful, good quality food, plenty of shops, decent pool. The travel office offers all kinds of great excursions into the Amazon. Their guides are fantastic. The big let down throughout our stay was the attitude of the staff, particularly reception. Do not expect a warm welcome or a helpful introduction. Be prepared to wait... More

Only stayed one night. Check in was very longwinded. The flight crew arrived just before us so we had to wait a long time before we got our key. Very long corridors, and our room wasn't the furthest away from the reception! The walk got very tiresome, glad we were there only 1 night. Decided to go and sit by... More

We only stayed here for 2 days between Rio carnival and our Amazon jungle tour. This hotel has so much potential. It's huge and has some great characteristics. Sadly it seems like it's been unloved for a very long time. Many parts of the hotel appeared completely out of use. It will take much more than a lick of paint... More

Non-smoking room reeked of cigarette smoke. Room service took forever, and when the order arrived it was wrong. Service was hostile. Internet did not work. Hotel taxis cost a fortune to go into the city center. This expensive 70's era establishment has hallways which are cavernous and dimly lit. Play areas for children are falling apart. Front desk treated complaints... More

The Tropical Hotel has had better days. I was given an upgraded room #1426, for which I thank the staff. Starting with that, it was a great suite. Two bathrooms, large living and huge bathroom. Facing the swimming pool, which wasn't bad at all. Due to many business meetings, I had not had a chance to formally check out other... More

It's a well located Resort, plotted into a small private jungle reserve, with easy access to the city of Manaus, as well as close to facilities and services like drugstores, markets and local restaurants. The hotel has it's own facilities like coffeeshops, tobacco shops, jewelry store of high standards, and even a pub (The Jungle Beach), so you can still... More

I have stayed in the Tropical many times over the years, but not recently. Returning this week, I was deeply disappointed by the decay of the facility and the clear signs that this hotel is near the end of its life. The hotel should be the best in town, and years ago, it was. It has lovely old rooms, a... More
