We descended upon this hotel after a year of planning The Great Amazon Safari with 11 other friends & relatives. Everything was effected as arranged. Our group of guests arrived over 2-3 days, with all sorts of requests/requirements - mostly about changing money, as it was Easter Week and banks etc. were shut. The hotel management went the extra kilometre... More

We always try to avoid cookie-cutter, branded properties when we travel to out-of-the-way places. Finding an attractive, 'one-of-a-kind hotel stay in Manaus is almost impossible. In any event, Manaus does not boast quality, independent hotels. Most international visitors use the city as a launch-pad for a visit to the Amazon rain-forest. The best description for Manaus is 'an urban jungle... More

This is a good value B&B in a nice residential area. It is an inexpensive taxi ride from the centre of town. It is a converted old family home and in our 2 x visits we stayed in different rooms - both of them fairly basic but comfortable and clean and obviously with A/c, TV etc. (Next time we would... The B&B is basic though it has a swimming pool. Some rooms need renovation. We stayed before and after our Amazon trip & had a much better room the 2nd time. Ask for a renovated room when you book. The staff are friendly and helpful and speak English. The breakfast was good, but if you want eggs they only come... More

My fiancé and I stayed here for one night before we went to the Amazon and we really enjoyed it. It's a little off the beaten track and it's a beautiful building. The rooms are a little dated and pretty basic, but that comes with the territory - it's an old building so you can't be surprised by that. It's... More

After our jungle tour, we have stayed at the Chez les Rois for one night. It is a little off centre, but still ok. The rooms are nice and clean and the breakfast is also good (try the fresh orange juice!). At the reception, both ladies were really helpful and spoke English very well - not that common ;))

This hotel/bed and breakfast is extremely basic and desperately in need of renovation- much of it seems to be falling apart. The staff however are friendly and helpful and one really positive point is the small swimming pool (also in need of renovation) which is most welcome as a means of cooling off when returning to the hotel. The breakfast... More

This is a lovely place. You can take a dip in the pool or relax in one of the cozy corners. The staff is very friendly and helpful and several of them speak English. There was no problem is storing some of our stuff while we went into the Amazonas for some days. Breakfast is good. Our rooms were perfectly... More

When I arrived in Manaus, I was hit by the humidity. It was good to reach Chez le Rois, which is like a quiet oasis in the middle of Manaus and also to go into a room with a bit of air conditioning. This guesthouse was helpful with any information which I needed, like where to eat. Jessica, particularly who... More
