We got an amazing tour of the rooms with wonderful background information. It is a very friendly place. Each room had some thing unique. Our tour guide was full of information and you could tell that he loved what he was doing.

Dan has a variety of rentals in Alma and each has its own personality, but all beautiful settings, luxurious bedding, antiques that welcome and the small things that say, glad you are here. Chocolates, chilled water, coffee, tea selection, you can walk right in and sit on the front porch overlooking the locks. Or take your tea out to the... More

How to describe this unique place? Dan has multiple suites in different buildings, all furnished with antiques and unusual decorative items, and all very comfortable and spacious. Fresh flowers on the table, chocolates and water bottles in the refrigerators, all for a very reasonable price for lots of space and all the comforts of home (except for television). On the... More

I have been to Alma Hotel De Ville 4 times and had various suites. I LOVE THEM ALL. Pictures do not do justice to the quaintness and uniqueness of the décor and provided supplies for relaxing. Private hillside gardens with the Falcon Cottage (yes, the whole house)-hunting motif, water fountain on patio. Swan suite is nautical motif with all on... More

I booked the Eagle Suite for the Friday and Saturday after last Thanksgiving. My jaw dropped when I went inside. The entryway was very impressive and I couldn't wait to explore the whole place. I also loved the fact that I had two floors to spread out in. The first thing I did was make coffee and enjoy it from... More

Hidden garden, ice cream, antiques, work in-process.... all describe this fun hotel. Dan is a wonderful (talkative!) host, the service is above and beyond (more tea? sure! dinner ideas? lots!), the "rooms" are apartments with kitchens and living rooms, the Swan suite (where we stayed) has a charming balcony overlooking the river. Caveats? The floors dip and rise at angles... More

As the owner says, "It's not done til it's overdone" and we couldn't have asked for more! We had a 2 bedroom suite with full living room, kitchen, bath & overhanging sun porch. It's an old building so, look past the rolling wood floors and just take in the luxury, peace and almost quiet (you have to enjoy trains along... More

I have been coming to Alma my whole life. Our family has grown too large for us all to stay in one location. After two attempts at other bed & breakfasts (both terrible), we tried Hotel de Ville. Clean, quiet (despite the notorious trains). Fabulous, luxurious beds! Clean! Clean! Clean! Dan is a wonderful host and so easy to work... More

We stayed at the Falcon Crest - a clean and cozy "cottage" in downtown Alma. Plenty of sleeping room with very comfortable beds - perfect for a family or group of friends. Stocked kitchen if you would like to do your own cooking and a large bathroom. Gorgeous location right on the Mississippi River with unique and cute shops in... More
