1-beautiful accomodation. Ok, no hot water at all, but you are in the amazon, if you want a jacuzzi just go to Forte dei Marmi. 2-our guide, Felsyn, was a funny and expert guy. He didn't speak a word in english, but we hadn't requested an english speaking guide 'cause we're italians and understanding the spanish is simple. 3-amazing walks... More

I am a cautious, newbie adventurer and my husband is an experienced traveler/explorer - we BOTH got exactly what we wanted with San Miguel del Bala Ecolodge. We did a 3-night/4-day tour, starting with a Tacana community tour and then into the Madidi preserve for a never to be forgotten jungle exploration. Our guide spoke fluent English and was extraordinarily... More

Short version: - community owned company (42 out of 46 families of the community San Miguel) - graet locations (whole infrastructure, cleanness etc) - outstanding food (fresh varied and more than enough) - great crew that respect the nature (guide Simon was excellent) - high service level - you got a high end product whilst supporting a community, for me... We stayed with San Miguel for a few days in december 2013 and in total we had some excellent days in the Bolivian Amazon. Good guide, good food, good accommodation and very important good communication with the office in Rurre before arrival. We spotted quite a few animals even if it were rainy season and most important felt the humid... More

We selected a tour company called San Miguel del Bala for our jungle tour experience. They seemed to be super friendly, had great energy and answers to our questions via email, were really well-rated on Trip Advisor and elsewhere, and are actually community-oriented, which is a super big plus for us. And while they are not the cheapest, they are... More

It was my privilege to stay here briefly during my volunteering experience in Bolivia. The community built and run complex is nestled in unspoiled forest next to the beautiful beni river and is only reachable by boat (I saw a capybara and a caimen on the way!) which is all part of the adventure but not for the faint hearted!... I stayed here with my sister and keep the experience as a cherished memory. It was so amazing and Eric, was such an amazing guide that shared and taught us so much. The activities are incredible! Hiking through the Amazon to get to a secret waterfall. Scaling up walls and squeezing through this narrow canyon. Making our own rings from... More

the place was amazing, the food was incredible ( fresh fruit juice all the time, unforgettable pancakes) and our guide was really nice. We spent a beautiful vacation and absolutely nothing went wrong. We were completely satisfied

I really recommend people who come to San Miguel De Bala to be Spanish speaking. Our guide Juan was very nice and helpful, but we paid for an English speaking guide -and it was sometimes a struggle to get him to speak English. We were on a private tour and was at one point asked if it was okay if... More

We decided to splurge and took this trip to the jungle over a pampas tour. The sense that our money was benefitting the community of San Miguel made us feel good about our decision after visiting and meeting some of the people there. We saw many animals and got away from the 20 yr old backpacking crowd. Our guide Wilman... More
