We had a very nice stay at the Ryokan for two days and the owner and his friend did show us a great deal of places here in Hirosaki. Its a very nice traditional Ryokan with Wi-Fi and an english speaking owner. We will definitely cone back if we are in the region again.

Stayed one night with my daughter. As mentioned by previous reviewers, the owner (Ichiba-san) is incredibly kind and welcoming. He has an unusual background for a hotel owner. Has studied French literature in Tokyo and speaks fluent English and French. He drove us to restaurants, to a car rental and to the train station. He even stopped outside a convenience... More

We read a lot of positive reviews about the Ryokan, but our experience was better than expected. The owner of the Ryokan is incredibly kind and helps you to enjoy a littlebit of real Japan, i guess. He helped us with hiking, by bringing us to the start of hiking trails and providing detailed maps and equipment. In de night... More

A step back in time to a true and unique Japanese experience. The host and his family are warm and so accommodating. The food is superb and the atmosphere is so soothing and relaxing. We plan to go again next year for the Sakura festival again.

The ryokan is so good it's hard for you to want to leave! The owner and his family are gentle, dedicated and do their best to offer a perfect experience. The ryokan is quite peaceful, but close to Hirosaki's most cheerful izakaya (bar). It's also close from some city's sightseeing spots. It's a wonderful place to stay!

We agreed to stay here based on recommendations from a close friend who had stayed multiple times before, and boy were we very happy with his recommendation. The host (Sochiro) was so welcoming, and proud of his ryokan, which was so nice to see. It's so traditional that it gives you a taste of the past, which is what we... More

We stayed for 2 nights. The host Sochiero was lovely, driving us to our restaurant, suggesting other places, and driving us to the station on our final morning. Ryokan is a rambling place with wonderful older part. We were in the newer addition but with view on to peaceful garden. Comfy sleeping. Bathroom decor needs a bit of attention but... More

I loved staying here. The owner was thoughtful and made excellent suggestions about where to eat. We went to a local "café" for our evening meal, having first been driven there by the ryokan owner, and sampled all kinds of traditional fare, which we wouldn't have had the chance or the nerve to taste without the introduction. I ate a... More

From the minute we arrived we felt very welcome. The ryokan has a lovely calm atmosphere & is located close to the castle. The owner speaks good English & is really helpful. We ate at a traditional Japanese restaurant that he recommended on our first night & it was a highlight of our trip. We enjoyed a free welcome drink... More

We loved our one night stay at Ishiba Ryokan! First of all the property is beautiful and very traditional. The owners are fantastic, Mr. Ishiba is an incredibly nice guy. Brought us to a local place for dinner, a place which normal tourists would never find. Also he brought us back to the train station in Hirosaki in the morning,... More
