Hoshidekan is a small traditional hotel (ryokan) in the city of Ise, famous for its two shrines. The staff is extremely friendly: when they found out that we were leaving for Tokyo, and without us asking for it, they rushed to print out for us maps of Tokyo's subway system, and during our stay they were helpful in more than... Nice old ryokan all in wood. God sleep and good food (japonese breakfast) It was not so far from train station by foot. The people were very nice (small English spoken). Good option if you want to stay in ise

Great to stay in such a beautiful old traditional hotel. It is 90 years old and the original character is all still there. Furnished in a traditional style and well looked after by the friendly owner couple whose family have always owned the ryokan. The bedrooms are smaller (but OK) with futon bed with shared bathroom. There is an onsen... More

We stayed 3 nights there and enjoyed our stay very much. The house is amazing, with it's little garden inside, the host are great and always ready to hand you a map of the place you're gonna visit, the onsen is delightful and the traditional rooms are great and clean. The price is reasonable, you can have breakfast, there's a... More

This place might be the most traditional and authentic place in Isé but is totally under maintained and costs far too much compared to other ryokans. The people were very kind but the rooms never cleaned, beds not made, food very poor quality. We paid about 25000 Yen per night for 2 adults and 1 child, room + breakfast +... More

First of all, sorry for my bad english. The first impression of Ise was not very good, the city seems run-down and to reach the ryokan we walked for 10 min on a main road full of traffic. Sadly the ryokan is right on the side of it, and it's a real shame, because the place is a beautiful house,traditional-style,... More

Nice ryokan in a traditional building. Good price. Good rooms, good food, and a nice garden on the inside. It has shared bathrooms. Short walk to the train station, several restaurants and convenience stores in the area. I recommend this place if you visit Ise.

Ise is worth a travel and if you want to make it a special experience this might be the right place to stay. I stayed for 5 nights in the sakura single room. The room was small and clean and very traditional (the Ryokan opened for business in 1926) so there is no own bath no closet and you have... More

The staff I met spoke very little English. I had Japanese speaking friends with me who helped out. This ryokan is known locally for its macro-biotic food. I didn't eat there so I can't comment. Inside is fairly compact, centering around an indoor garden. I found it very attractive, inside and out. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and it... More
