wv get's their state parks right!...love hawk's nest and it's surroundings!...getting there is a treat as well...so many waterfalls on the roadsides...must do the tram and then the boat ride on the rapids...this park is wonderful!...the lodge is a tad dated, but clean and well kept...great any season!...

I stayed at the end of May and the Tram was not running. This was my first visit but I see me going back. I have stayed at North Bend State Park and Pipestem and this seems to be a bit above both though Pipestem is close. The views are great from the dining room and a walk to Lover's... More

This was either my 3rd or 4th stay in about 20 years. The only reason really needed to come back is one of the most spectacular views in the United States. Early in the season so no tramway, but most of the trails were open. The room was convenient and very clean. Sleep was wonderful, TV and Internet excellent, refrigerator... More

Some of the best advice we have every received from a state welcome center was the one in West Virginia after we entered the state from Kentucky. Not having any familiarity with the interior of the state we were advised to spend the night at the lodge at Hawks Nest State Park and to travel there via the Midland Trail... More

the room was really comfortable and had a great view. however there was no fridge, microwave or hair dryer in the room. i back up photographs to cloud storage when traveling but couldn't here because the wifi was about as slow as an old dial up connection and kept dropping off. the desk people were very nice when i asked... We recently stayed in a couple rooms here while working in the area, and overall had a great experience. The only negative comment I have is that the internet is painfully slow, as well as cell tower reception and data speeds. Be prepared if you are expecting a high speed connection at the lodge, or with a mobile device. The... More

Warning -You'll want to pack your own food for this lodge. We visited just a few days ago, while on a fall color tour around WV. The dining room at Hawk's Nest Lodge was a great disappointment in just about every way possible - with one exception - the breath-taking view of the New River Gorge. We arrived when the... More

The lodge at Hawk's Nest State Park in WV is a very nice basic and economical place to stay. It is clean and neat. We had an excellent view of the New River Gorge from the room. There is also a balcony, which we enjoyed even in December. We hiked a couple of the trails with great views of the... More

The hotel was very clean and the room was small, but nice. The view from our room was spectacular! We took the tram ride, which was ok, and the jet boat ride was fun, but loud. The complementary breakfast in the dining room was ok. The hotel claims that there is wi-fi in all of the rooms, but it only... More

Wilderness, beauty, and quiet. If that is what you are looking for then come here. There is all kinds of hiking to do and if you pass by the mystery shack...pull in! One of the coolest roadside attractions I've been to. This place rocks!
