We were so fortunate to get this corner suite on the top floor of this older hotel. But, because it was I,der the walls and floors were concrete, so it is very, very quite. The view of the New a River and the old train bridge was beautiful and we loved sell the train traffic. We even saw the Amtrak... More

The lodge itself desperately needs updating. Looks like it's stuck in the 60s. The room we stayed in was nice. Definitely recommend a gorge view room. We loved the balcony and the view. We rode the tram down while we were there, and then a transformer blew in the area. We hiked back up to a lodge with no power... More

We stayed this August.....we had been there about 10 years ago and went to take a room and they had just booked the last room so we wanted to return. We took the tram ride down to the gorge and the river trip. Very nice. Had a nice picnic lunch in the park below. Our room overlooked the gorge and... More

First of all, on trip advisor, there are two separate listings for this one property, one listed under other lodging, and the other listed separately under hotels. They need to be combined as they are one property. This is one of the West Virginia State Park facilities which have a lodge where you can spend the night. The view here... More

There is an observation deck at the lodge with good views. At the lodge there is also an air tram that will take you down to the New River where you can ride a jet boat. It was around $20 per person. While we were standing there another tourist was talking about how unsafe the tram was when she rode... More

We stayed only for one night during a roadtrip, wanting to see a little of the state park. The lodge itself was not super modern, but ok. We had a deluxe suite for our family of four, and had more than enough space. Surroundings were beautiful. We had been looking forward to take the tram down to the river -... More

The lodge accommodations are not the most modern, but are well maintained and clean. Free Wifi is available in the rooms, which is good because cell service is spotty. Location is good and close to many outdoor activities. The views from the room were beautiful. The tram was broken, so we didn't get to do that. Breakfast is as expected... More

Setting for lodge is great. Most rooms have a great view of the gorge. The rooms are somewhat old but clean and functional. We enjoyed the additional view of a friendly groundhog and a raccoon that came begging. The lodge staff were friendly and efficient. The down side of staying here is the really bad food and service in the... More

Immaculate scenery and clean facility. The lodge is very 60s but in a cool way. Narrow halls, low ceilings, brick and paneling hallways, and tons of nooks and crannies to sit in and chill. Excellent wifi everywhere. Restaurant is just ok and pricey.
