I just went out to the August Inn for a girls getaway. There were 8 of us and all of us had a comfortable place to sleep. The water is so close it almost comes up to the house - the view is unbelievable! We were there during a stormy weekend, so we had the fire roaring, our slippers on... More

Wow from the moment I first walked in the door my girlfriend and I were greated by a bottle of wine resting on the counter. Beatifully well kept house that was very roomy. The beach was wonderful with georgeous sunrises. But I must say the thing that stood out for me was the caretaker. He lit our beach fires every... More

We recently spent a fantastic night at the August Inn on the beautiful Anderson Island. Tim, the owner, was right there to meet us as we arrived and gave us a quick run down on things we needed to know! The Beachfront Suite that we stayed in had 2 bedrooms and another loft upstairs with 2 twin beds. Though it... More

I wanted to get away for a night without the hassle of a long drive. I discovered August Inn on Anderson Island was a quick drive and ferry ride highlighted by a gorgeous view of Puget Sound and Mt. Rainier. We arrived on a glorious day to a quiet, peaceful retreat. Beautiful beach with a beautiful, well appointed house to... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
August Inn is located on Anderson Island in southern Puget Sound. The small, 18 square mile island offers a quick getaway from hectic metropolitan areas. Just short 20 minute ferry ride from the historic town of Steilacoom, then 10 minutes to the house. Situated on one acre that slopes to 125 feet of waterfront, the panoramic view reaches north to the Tacoma Narrows and south to the Nisqually River Delta, with Mt. Rainier directly across. Due southeast is the untouched Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge.Although this private island has very little commercial development, it includes two restaurants and a general store. The island is perfect for a quiet country walk, bicycle rides, or kayaking. ... more   less
