I've stayed here several times, starting in 1997, and it is always a pleasant and relaxing experience. We have had family events here and stayed in multiple rooms but congregated in the common areas. The common areas are pleasant and inviting, there is coffee available anytime, the porches are very pleasant for sitting and reading. If you sit on the... More

My in-laws stayed here in July and had a wonderful time. They were very complementary of the facility and staff. So much so, the entire family is planning a Christmas celebration for December. I called and spoke to Alex and she could not have been more accommodating. She helped pick the right rooms for an elderly couple, gave suggestions on... More

We stayed here for our anniversary weekend. Despite there being an event going on throughout town, including a stop in the lobby of the inn, it was very quiet. The room we stayed in was so charming, and we loved being able to walk to dinner. Everything was really clean and clearly well taken care of. We really only encountered... More

Our main purpose for choosing the Henry Clay Inn is the proximity to the railroad station and track since we are both railfans. The Inn is actually a B&B dating back to gentler times and appearances. We had a first floor handicapped room with a doorway to the back porch and parking lot. We spent most of our time on... More

I slept nearly comatose, even with trains rumbling by regularly. Everything was clean and comfortable; would definitely return. Beautiful environment, nice sitting areas, great historic location. Ideal for train-lovers! Wi-fi worked flawlessly.

The Henry Clay Inn has a great location in downtown Ashland, close to the center of town, the train station and Randolph-Macon College. The rooms are near and clean, and the staff very friendly. Although the TVs are older, and the fitness center is sparse, the porch offers a lovely place to sit and relax. The continental breakfast is small,... More

My wife and I had heard that the property was "renovated" and reopened recently. We had both stayed here in the past as RMC Alums. When we walked in to check-in, the young lady almost couldn't be bothered to put her iPhone down to help us. After she chucked the keys across the counter, my trepidation began to rise exponentially.... More

The Inn is clean and comfortable. It is a small Inn, only 14 rooms, but it is nice. The people are very friendly like in most small towns. The building has character and a lot of history. You can sit in the porch and drink your coffee in the morning or chat in the evening or afternoon with friends or... More

My husband and I stopped at the Henry Clay Inn for one night on our trek to OBX. It's less than 10 minutes off the highway and in a lovely part of town. We got in about 7 pm and there were people in period costumes on the porch conducting historic walking tours of the city. Immediately across the street... More
