The Henry Clay Inn has a great location in downtown Ashland, close to the center of town, the train station and Randolph-Macon College. The rooms are near and clean, and the staff very friendly. Although the TVs are older, and the fitness center is sparse, the porch offers a lovely place to sit and relax. The continental breakfast is small,... More

My wife and I had heard that the property was "renovated" and reopened recently. We had both stayed here in the past as RMC Alums. When we walked in to check-in, the young lady almost couldn't be bothered to put her iPhone down to help us. After she chucked the keys across the counter, my trepidation began to rise exponentially.... More

The Inn is clean and comfortable. It is a small Inn, only 14 rooms, but it is nice. The people are very friendly like in most small towns. The building has character and a lot of history. You can sit in the porch and drink your coffee in the morning or chat in the evening or afternoon with friends or... More

My husband and I stopped at the Henry Clay Inn for one night on our trek to OBX. It's less than 10 minutes off the highway and in a lovely part of town. We got in about 7 pm and there were people in period costumes on the porch conducting historic walking tours of the city. Immediately across the street... More

My wife and I stayed here after a show at Ashland Coffee next door (also a wonderful place) so received 30% off. Niiice thick towels, very nice bathroom, door right out to quiet back porch. I will stay here any chance we get. Breakfast was full with fresh fruit, muffins, etc. Management as friendly as can be ! Don't see how anybody would... More

We've been stopping here for 15 years on our North/South trip. It's a few minutes from the highway. Dependable rooms with queen beds, nice srve-yourself breakfast, Friendly front desk. Interersting Inn. Ashville is a college town (randolph macon) and you can walk/drive around the college. There's a wonderful dinner area one block north, our favorite is Iron Horse.

This place was situated in the center of this small town but felt as if we were in the countryside. An old locomotive line had a train stop right in front and although it was a bit noisy at times when the train came through it brought me back to what it was like a hundred years ago. Very quaint.

Looking for a charming friendly place to stay my wife and I stumbled on this hidden Gem while walking around the village. Located across the street from the Amtrak, it's convenient and comfortable. Other reviews point out the dated fixtures, but I look at it as a quaint step back in time. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are clean,... More

We spent the night here and it was fantastic! The facility was certainly not run down but rather cozy and had a very "colonial" feel. More importantly, you can watch the CSX and Amtrak trains go by from the second floor balcony! We were in room 208 and our grandsons simply could run to the windows to watch the trains... More

My husband and I stayed at the Inn for friends of ours wedding. The place was so run down. We arrived before anyone else that weekend in October. I was so disappointed for my Friend who was getting married there. We had a room upstairs in the back corner of the Inn with access to the rear porch. We stepped... More

I am truly sorry that your stay at our inn did not live up to your expectations. We have recently done an overhaul of the inn after our closing in October. We have moved guest rooms around, added a fitness and business center and also have increased our hours for breakfast and in the evenings to better accommodate our guests.... More
