I just want to say that I enjoyed my stay at the Sheraton Suites Old Town Alexandria. The property is about 15 minute van ride from the airport. I agree with most posters that this hotel was up to date, clean, and in a fairly good area. (Borders on public housing area but we just stayed clear of that.) Sorry you have to sign the waiver, but unfortunately some pets are not quiet when left in hotels and they disrupt other guests with late night barking. Nice quiet location, about 6 blocks (10 minute walk) from the heart of Old Town. Definitely not within walking distance of the King St Metro Station, but the hotel had plenty of shuttles running. We were in the DC area for four nights to watch our son perform in a school competition. I booked the room via hotwire.com, which listed it as a "3.5 star" hotel in Alexandria. Old hotel. I was upgraded to a suite which was fine. The locations is fantastic and the shuttle service is convenient. Be advised you have to pay $10/day for internet. Everything seems to be available for a "fee". more
I reserved online at the AAA rate through sheraton.com. Got $189/night. When I checked in, they had me on the club flr with a view of the river. Suite was pretty nice.
