The usual story when a hotel is being renovated. That doesn't stop them from continuing to rent rooms. In addition to noise and half the parking lot being closed and a snow-like substance filling the air in the entrance and lobby (lung damage?) there were problems not associated with renovation. The bed-side phone didn't work in the room, lights were... More

Alexandria is the national headquarters location for two professional associations I belong to, one of which hosted a working weekend for a certification exam it was about to launch. At a large-group rate of $109 a night, this hotel was the association's lodging of choice for those of us on the certification committee in '05. As I write this review... More

I got a room on the 10th floor and I could see the Washington Monument and the Capital Dome from my bed!!! They had the government rate of $201 available and it included breakfast and bonus priority points. The parking lot was undergoing renovation, and the staff said they are doing top to bottom renovations, all of which will be... More

I stayed here on business at a rate of $201. This is not a two hundred dollar a night hotel but it is fine. The views from the top floors (I was on 12) were spectacular. The bed was excellent. The furnishings are comfortable and adequate. The carpet and bath are worn and showing age, but function without problem. The... More

My husband and I stayed at the Crowne Plaza over Labor Day weekend. The hotel is not as bad as some reviews indicated. The hotel is located in an upscale residential district about 4 blocks away from the main street of Alexandria near a very picturesque park on the Potomac River. The neighborhood is quiet and did not seem unsafe.... More

I called the Hoilday Inn reservation telephone number to book a room in the Alexandria area and the employee recommended this hotel. The selling point was that this is a brand new hotel and that I would not be disappointed. This is not a brand new hotel, it is an old hotel newly acquired by Crowne Plaza. Very misleading.

Got this hotel at a great Priceline price, was a little leary of what to expect based on reviews I had read. We had 4 kids with us, 3 adults. Overall we were satisfied with our stay. Hotel staff friendly, rooms clean, beds comfortable, kids loved the rooftop pool. At check-in our rooms were "smoking" so staff upgraded us to... More

The hotel has recently been acquired by Crowne Plaza from SAS Radisson. It is tired, dirty and shabby and has a general air of depression and decay. It seemed that the staff were too few, undertrained and far from motivated - understandable I guess if the managers have been uncertain about their future during change of ownership. In the room... This hotel is currently undergoing a brand change (Raddison to Crowne Plaza). Despite the renovation, the hotel was quiet and clean. Our rooms had great views of the river and we only paid $50 on priceline. The area surrounding the hotel is safe; however, on one side of the street are the projects surrounded by $500,000 houses. . .for this... More

I should say that I didn't stay here but met friends who did for breakfast in the hotel's restaurant. The coordinator of the group had contacted the hotel and informed that we would have a large group of 30 and told them the time just to make sure they would be prepared. They most certainly weren't. The buffet was nearly... More
