I always read reviews where people say they "felt they knew the innkeepers their whole lives," and I have never experienced that until our stay at Black's Fort Inn this week. Cindy and Jimmy Patterson were so personable and homey from the first minute in the door. Their home is welcoming, and the Waterfall Suite was so well-appointed and secluded.... More

Black's Fort Inn Bed & Breakfast is nestled in the heart of Abingdon, VA. Because of my career, I have traveled a lot, especially in the summer season. I've stayed at many places, but NONE compare to the comfort and 5 star service I have experienced when I have stayed at Cindy and Jimmy Patterson's charming and welcoming Bed and... More

The Black's Fort Inn is a wonderful place to stay when visiting Abingdon!! Cindy and Jim Patterson, our hosts, opened up their warm and cozy country home to us and we enjoyed their hospitality and the accommodations immensely. We immediately felt right at home. The rooms were spacious, beautifully furnished and full of country charm. The grounds are picturesque--acres and acres... More

My husband and I just spent two lovely evenings at Black's Fort Inn B & B. We rested up prior to and after our bicycle ride along the Virginia Creeper Trail. We loved the privacy and escape provided by the beautiful natural setting, including flower gardens, vegetable gardens, horses, geese, and groundhogs! (Special love to the cat and dog, as... More

We had a really wonderful stay with Cindy & Jimmy. We love B&Bs and this one is a new favorite. We spent our anniversary weekend here and enjoyed a very pleasant weekend in Abingdon, and a great stay with the kind and hospitable hosts at Black's Fort Inn. I would guess it's rare to find Abingdon-ites running B&Bs but Cindy... More

Thank you for your review. A quick note for clarification, the private bath and 1/2 for the Meadow Suite is exclusively private for our guests that are staying in that suite. Both bathrooms located just a few steps right outside the door of your bedroom. There is another door that shuts off the wing entirely and no other guests have... More

I have always loved staying at a B&B but this was the best experience ever. Cindy and Jimmy are so wonderful and it truly felt like we were at home away from home with wonderful family. The breakfasts were absolutely amazing and the evening snacks were wonderful. The Cat's Head Biscuits with that heavenly sausage gravy was heaven. We didn't... More

The moment I stepped through the threshold of their charming residence, I immediately felt at home. Cindy and Jimmy were warm and welcoming hosts that truly enjoy what they do. The breakfasts were indescribably delectable as well as unique. What especially impressed me about my stay at the Black's Fort Inn was that I felt at home not just because... More

The Black's Fort Inn was a delightful surprise. Jimmy and Cindy were warm and attentive hosts full of information about the area, their farm and other interests. The rooms were tastefully decorated and larger than expected with many amenities. We stayed downstairs and had a suite of rooms for our use. Seeing the first frost on the the farm and... More

My daughter and I have been staying at Black's Fort Inn since 2002 for our annual trip to the Nascar race at Bristol. Cindy and Jimmy are excellent hosts, and each year it's like coming back to visit family. Cindy is a master in the kitchen when it comes to breakfasts, and it's impossible to leave the table without being... More

Prior to our trip I researched places to stay and kept on coming back to Black's Fort Inn. I am so glad that we selected this B&B and we were able to experience such a beautiful home! We stayed downstairs and loved every moment! Very clean and only the best of towels, and bedding. Breakfast was just an experience of... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Black's Fort Inn is truly a very unique Bed & Breakfast. Our property looks as if we are out in the country but we are right in the middle of town situated on nine acres with sculpted hills, lots of trees and rolling hills. We are able to provide our guests with privacy as most of our Bed & Breakfast is designed for that purpose. Our pond is nearly an acre and has a waterfall where the water cascades down over the rocks makes the most soothing, relaxing sound, creating one of the most peaceful settings in the world. The outdoor balcony is very spacious and inviting overlooks our farm, pond and waterfall. The pond also serves as a habitat for several species of wild fowl and if you can relax long enough you can see the Canadian Geese fly in and land on the pond for their rest before leaving the next morning. Our outdoor balcony is very spacious and inviting. It overlooks our farm, pond and the lovely waterfall. We have a second porch that is equally spacious including a grape arbor that winds up at a cozy covered porch with the perfect view of our waterfall. Our guests tell us how peaceful and beautiful our property is.I love to cook for all of our guests and one of my most famous & favorite breakfast dishes requested is our "Cat Head" Biscuits & Gravy.Such wonderful memories are made here, and we make so many nice friends. All of the priceless memories we have of each of our guests make us so happy that we can share our beautiful place with our wonderful guests. ... more   less
