Wonderful stay! The Martha Washington is like stepping back in time with modern amenities! If you appreciate history you will love the Martha Washington. If you are seeking a quiet place to get away, this is perfect. The hot tub is beautiful, nestled under a canopy of trees, surrounded by ivy and flowers. Relaxing on the huge front porch with... More

We came here with friends and couldn't have enjoyed our stay any more. Everything was clean and cozy. Beautiful landscaping and very accommodating staff. Can't wait to come back in the fall. Abington is so charming!!

My husband and I drive thirteen hours from our house to Baltimore every summer to visit friends and family. A colleague spoke so highly of this place that my husband, an avid "drive straight through" kind of guy actually suggested we split the drive between two days and stay here overnight. This place is comfortable, quiet, and the staff was... More

Martha Washington is a very comfortable historic inn within walking distance of good restaurants, an excellent theater (the hotel will make your reservations) and a fabulous hiking/biking trail (within walking distance behind the hotel). The Inn also has a very nice spa (great pedicure), large indoor pool and outdoor hot tub with plenty of spots to sit (including a large... More

We stayed here two summers in a row. The room was comfortable and very clean. Unlike a B&B they do not restock the water bottles and snack items. We were told we would be able to get more water if we asked. The pool, tennis courts, and hot tub were awesome. The hot tub did have leaves in it, but... More

My husband and I came here to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. At first I was kinda stunned at the $500 a night package that included dinner and 2 tickets to the Barter theatre. On arrival we were studded at the grounds. The fountains, small ponds with water falls, hot tub and pools were great and not crowded. We had... More

Spent the weekend in a 2bedroom suite. Snacks and water provided. Room clean and comfy. Had a minor maintenance issue which was immediately addressed. Biked the Creeper, had a fabulous dinner at Rain, and saw a play. The pool and hot tub were fabulous, not crowded, wonderful temperatures, and clean. Towels were difficult to locate, but it was a busy... More

Just stayed one night. Staff was perfect. Rooms normal. Price would have been just fine had we taken advantage of their pool and other amenities. Unless I;m staying for several days I'll probably go to the Hampton Inn and save a hundred bucks. Again, nothing bad. Just not worth the difference in price for a night or two.

The Martha Washington sits on a charming knoll in Abingdon's historic district across the street from the nationally renowned Barter Theater (also the State Theater of Virginia). It's steeped in history and the building has served many uses over its history. Like most Grand Old Southern Hotels, the Martha Washington is impeccably maintained, the service is world class, the rooms... More

We recently stayed at the Martha Washing Inn and enjoyed a fun-filled time in Abingdon. The Inn was clean, spacious, and our room/king bed very comfortable! Luxurious spa, beautiful pool, and up-to-date fitness room. We were on the top floor of the main building (where an elevator does not reach), but our room was quite large - more like a... More
