my wife and i were travelling to austin for our honeymoon and we had 3 nights at the driskill, it is a very historic and elegant building. the rooms are not modern but are classy and well decorated. the beds in the standard city room were great. the hotel has recently been taken over by hyatt. the bar is very... This is an old traditional hotel and with that comes old traditional elevators, old (noisey) plumbing, old (damp, smelly, noisey) air conditioners and old single glazed (noisey) windows. Bring ear plugs and lots of money. They don't even leave you a glass in the bathroom to drink from, instead there is a bottle of spring water for $6.00! I paid... More

We walked in for a drink, not knowing the storied history of the place (i.e., the most haunted hotel in Texas). Great old fashioned bar on the mezzanine -- loved the sconces fashioned from Navy Colt .36s! Friendly bartender and good cheer, so we ended up ordering dinner at the bar from the not-bad bar food menu. Fried chicken was... More

This fabulous hotel from 1896 feels like the Plaza or the Waldorf. The breathtaking hallway to the bar is marble with huge leather couches in sitting groups. After 6pm there is live music. Floral displays dominate the entrance. It is something to see and a dont miss in you are in downtown Austin on 6th street. Also the cafe is... More

The lobby and common areas are beautifully elegant and historic. We were greeted by smiley faces and assistance everywhere, even though there was a wedding with 700 guests going on the same weekend (Elizabeth was particularly professional and courteous upon check-in). Rooms are charming, but the standard rooms are cozy ie. on the small side in my opinion. We had... More

I stayed here one night for business. Check in was fast and efficient. The hotel is a historic hotel in the heart of downtown Austin. Very convenient to restaurants and the happenings in Austin. My room had high ceilings and massive amounts of crown molding. Bed was comfy enough. But here is where the hotel was lacking: 1. As with... More

I stayed here a few nights while on a personal business trip in Austin. It reminds me of a Fairmont or a Luxury Collection Hotel. My room was small but the service was excellent. Its located right in downtown on the main street so you can walk to everything.

We were here for a Thursday and Friday night in late May. After reading so many negative reviews about people not happy with their room we called the hotel directly to tell them exactly what we did, and didn't want. They were very understanding and room 545 worked well for us. Not huge, but not too small either. Had a... More

Having been to Austin several times, we had been to the Driskill bar and I knew I wanted to stay here at some point. Such a great historical hotel, great location! My friends and I stayed here over the Memorial Day weekend and had a blast! The customer service is great!
