The Driskill occupies a wonderful location in downtown Austin and immediately exudes "Texas", from the high-ceilinged lobby to the Lone Star motif and classical American oil paintings adorning the majority of the corridor walls, etc. The room itself, in our case a "Victorian Junior Suite", was of modest size for accomodations of similar title, but the hotel is not secretive... more

We LOVED it. It set the tone for our first trip to Texas. With it's fabulous lobby and bar, the terrific terrace cafe (had lunch - excellent food and service and breakfast - horrible service but good food) Rooms with ultra-high ceilings, marble bathrooms, sumptuous bed, unique appointments in the hallways...it was SO big ...a great start to our trip.... more

My wife and I just spent the weekend in Austin for a friends wedding and there were some horrible experiences for much of the wedding party during our time at the Driskill hotel. One member of the wedding party was told he was being upgraded when he checked in, upgraded meaning he was given a room on a higher floor.... more

I went for my honeymoon. The rooms are ok- better obviously the more you pay. However, I was less than impressed with the additional charges added after the reservation was made. It was very disappointing paying over $700 for two nights stay and then checking the bill at over $800 --- for a weekend honeymoon. Watch out for valet parking... more

I stay at the Driskill several times a year. Fun Texas decor, and nice staff. This weekend, my wife (who has never stayed at the hotel) and I spent the evening there. Not an impressive performance. Mostly, the staff was just inept, and the room just strange and tiny. If that was a junior suite, I have no idea how... more

The staff was amazing but overall I think the Driskill is way overrated. The rooms were small, the shower leaked where the glass met the wall. We had to put towels on the floor because of the amount of water. For the price of the room the least they could have done was make a coffee maker available in the... more

The Driskill was perfect for what we wanted. We were 6 girls in are early 30s looking to get away someplace fun. Walking into the Driskill your jaw drops with the marble collumns and beautiful decore. The rooms also did not disappoint. Who ever their interior designer was deserves a BONUS! The only issue was there were 3 girls per... more

I guess I should have known better I might have had myself hyped for more. I grew up in Austin and have always wanted to stay here... For our one year ann. I total splurged and booked a room in the Historic part of the hotel. Paid $100 extra for the romance package which was 5 covered strawberries, champagne, turn... more

In Austin for a conference in March, I stayed at the Driskill mid-week for two days. The hotel is centrally located in downtown Austin in the business district. It seemed to me mainly other business professionals were staying while I was there; but that may have been due to the time of my stay (mid-week during conference season.) The rooms... more

The Driskill is among a rare breed of hotels - a true independent spirit, as far from cookie-cutter as you can get. I've stayed here several times, and even on occasions when I was in Austin and couldn't get a room here, I made sure to at least visit the bar and restaurant. The rooms aren't very large, but are... more
