We stayed overnight here as a wedding reception was being held here. We're from out of town and had never stayed at the Driskill. The hotel has a rich history for sure. But as far as the hotel itself (beyond the public areas) and other comforts, the Driskill just isn't at the same level as other five star properties in... More

When in Texas, you have to go big. Austin is by car the coolest, laid-back city I've visited in Texas, and it's historic roots run deep. The Driskill is part of that history, and carries the role well. From the impressive exterior architecture to the huge lobby entrance (used to be a bank and you can still walk into the... More

The lobby is amazing and thats it. Rooms are ok. We have two fridges one obviously broken so they put another in never took out broken one. No tea and coffee in rooms and only within certain times in guest lounge. The staff are efficent but non friendly, lack personality. Not very knowledgeable about where to go etc. So we just... More

I was unable to take a warm (don't even think about a hot shower there). Their water heating systems are in desperate need of replacement. Also, they need new elevator as most of them are too slow! The people are nice, the location is great, the hotel is clean.

We expected old, but not old and tired. Common areas are quite nice, rooms are small. We couldn't fit three days worth of clothes for two people into the closet. No where to put suitcases out of the way. The hotel needs an upgrade Management seems to think that friendly = service. It doesn't. We had several minor complaints, but... More

This hotel is old and frankly it is not wearing its age very well. The rooms are not comfortable as they are too small and the bathroom is ridiculously small. The part of the hotel I stayed in was serviced by two elevators. Upon my arrival on Wednesday I was informed one was not working and to use the second... More

This hotel does not live up to it's reputation. Beautiful lobby, bar and historic feel yes, but for the price you should stay somewhere else. The rooms are the size of a small bedroom. Also, if sleep is important to you do not stay at this hotel. The hotel had maintenance or construction (workers yelling back and forth, drilling, construction... More

I used to be a tour guide of Austin sites and always took my guests to view the venerable Driskill. So when friends asked for me to go with them to Austin and asked where they should stay, I immediately suggested the Driskill. It is a beautiful, old world style hotel, albeit with a western flair. The public areas are... More

The Driskill has the feeling of an elegant old west hotel, which it is. It's got the requisite grand lobby, circular staircase and elegant lobby bar, yet it has that welcoming charm that Texas is known for. The staff was friendly and helpful--the front desk gave us good restaurant recommendations and the concierge gave us a great recommendation on where... More

As the taxi turned the corner, I was immediately impressed by the stately elegance of the exterior. Exiting the cab, my eyes were immediately focused on the beautiful leaded glass doors. Once we entered, the lobby continued to overwhelm me. Beautiful flooring and pristine woodwork with elegant light fixtures made me feel like I stepped back in time. Check in... More
