We stayed in building two of the bed and breakfast and I was very pleased with the stay. It was easy to check in and the room was small but nice. One thing to note is that the shampoo and conditioner were full sized bottles (rather than small, one per room type) so if you don't like that be sure... More

We recommend this place to everyone staying in Austin. It's so nice and cozy and just plain adorable. My boyfriend lived the balcony even though it was Christmas. The owner and the staff were all very welcoming and hospitable. We can't WAIT to return!

My DH and I stopped here at the start of our cross country trip. Comfortable, safe and clean accommodations. Inn had full size refrigerator with water, soda and juice avail. 24/7. Fresh baked goodies daily. Lovely and substantial breakfast. Used Uber to get around.

I have stayed here 4 times now in the past couple of months while being in Austin to testify at some hearings at the Capitol. The rooms are very very nicely appointed.Every room has it's own bathroom too, which I much prefer. The rooms are always super clean and comfortable. Even if I want to try and sleep in, the... More

I spent two nights at the Star of Texas Inn, a bed & breakfast nestled into a tree-shaded lot at 22nd Street and Rio Grande. For sheer peacefulness, I'd rate it ten stars. The building, first built in the 1880s and lovingly added to over the years, is tastefully decorated. But the lovely decor is nothing compared to the food.... More

I liked the location, near the University and bars. I liked the free parking. I liked the breakfast (buffet) and I really liked the fresh cookies. I also liked the easy way of checking in and getting in and out (with a code). But I just did not really 'feel' this place. It was not the size of the rooms... More

Husband liked this place unreservedly. Sylvia and Chris were really helpful. There is free parking outside. I am not tall and have 'dodgy' knees, so getting in to the shower in room 13 over the high side of the 'Victorian' iron bath was a bit tricky. The bed was comfortable but also high. Sitting on the balcony in the heat... More

I stayed at the Star of Texas during a business trip to Austin. The hotel is located very conveniently 5 minutes away from the main university campus, yet it has a great feeling of a small family place, with nice and responsive personnel, fresh fruits and home-made cookies, and a very nice shady terrace, that was especially welcoming during the... The Star of Texas Inn is actually three facilities; Buildings 1 and 2, and the Austin Folk House, all located within a block of each other and roughly two blocks from the U of T campus. We called months ahead of our planned dates, making reservations for two rooms in Building One, the main building. However, on arriving we found... More

Star of Texas Inn a gem of a bed & breaksfast conveniently located in the "West Campus" near the University of Texas and downtown Austin. The inn consists of rooms in two buildings, one facing W. 22nd St. and Building 2 facing Rio Grande St. There is plenty of parking available for both buildings. Check in is made very easy.... More
