Husband liked this place unreservedly. Sylvia and Chris were really helpful. There is free parking outside. I am not tall and have 'dodgy' knees, so getting in to the shower in room 13 over the high side of the 'Victorian' iron bath was a bit tricky. The bed was comfortable but also high. Sitting on the balcony in the heat... More

I stayed at the Star of Texas during a business trip to Austin. The hotel is located very conveniently 5 minutes away from the main university campus, yet it has a great feeling of a small family place, with nice and responsive personnel, fresh fruits and home-made cookies, and a very nice shady terrace, that was especially welcoming during the... The Star of Texas Inn is actually three facilities; Buildings 1 and 2, and the Austin Folk House, all located within a block of each other and roughly two blocks from the U of T campus. We called months ahead of our planned dates, making reservations for two rooms in Building One, the main building. However, on arriving we found... More

Star of Texas Inn a gem of a bed & breaksfast conveniently located in the "West Campus" near the University of Texas and downtown Austin. The inn consists of rooms in two buildings, one facing W. 22nd St. and Building 2 facing Rio Grande St. There is plenty of parking available for both buildings. Check in is made very easy.... More

I was with a team of 10 people, plus a half dozen others who came and went, for a week long team planning meeting in September. The staff as the Star were welcoming, supportive, unobtrusive hosts. While the dining room was not ideal, we transformed it into a meeting space that served our needs well. The Star has been around... More

Spent a week here for a business trip and the staff was great! The room I was in needed some work, had water damage, and the shower head is weird but I would stay here again, and so would my coworkers. The beds and sheets were VERY comfy, and they didn't have cheap TP! Poke fun if you will, but... More

The place was very pretty, comfortable, clean and very convenient, close to everything. The personnel was friendly. The breakfast was good with everything you want, coffee, juice, yoghurt, muffins, plenty of fruit, cereal, toast, bagels, eggs, bacon... We had home made cookies daily. Our room was cozy with a great bathroom and a very comfortable bed. We had a lot... More

Location, location, location. Old two story house renovated to a B&B being one of their two on the same block. You are within walking distance to campus and located close to fraternity and sorority houses. Stairs outside no problem, inside kinda steep but doable. Ground floor the place to stay if stairs aren't your thing. Bed comfy, bathroom newly renovated... More

I have stayed at this B and B hotel in Austin over the years and twice in the last six months. It is convenient to the campus at the University of Texas. It is also not very expensive. It also has free wife. But it does have a fair amount of street noise, it is on the UT bus line. (They... More
