The standards are high here. The room was great, the daily breakfasts were at foodie level, the amenities were organic. The hostesses were helpful and open to making your stay as enjoyable as possible.

We absolutely loved staying with the Gateway Guesthouse and Bess and Blaine were the perfect hosts. Warm, welcoming, cozy and in a great neighborhood just across the river from the convention center (We were there for SXSW). It was more like staying with great, inconspicuous friends who emerge to bring you breakfast or a great restaurant suggestion when needed. And... More

I think this may be the first review by someone who stayed in one of our Guestrooms and I'm so glad you wrote. We find that guests truly do love these two cozy rooms and it is almost never even an inconvenience that they share a bathroom. Thank you for taking the time to write! We enjoyed having you stay... My wife and I had an awesome weekend in Austin. Staying at the Gateway Guesthouse was a key reason for our positive experience. This was my wife's first Bed and Breakfast experience and she was definitely not disappointed! Our son actually proposed to his girlfriend in the back yard with both families on hand. Bess and Blaise jumped through hoops... More

Loved our loft...was like our own private tiny house! Quiet, great sleep, great shower, exceptional food, prepared by Bess! Close to South Congress for shopping and great eats, close to Boardwalk for exercise along the river. Bess and Blaise are great hosts...friendly and helpful...very welcoming. A must stay when in Austin!

Hello and thank you for taking the time to write. We are so glad you enjoyed the Loft. It is one of our favorite spaces as well. While the steep steps aren't for everyone, it is a private little hideaway. We hope you'll return when we can serve you breakfast on your private deck in the Crape Myrtle garden! It... More

If you are planning to visit Austin and like Inns, don't miss the Gateway Guesthouse. The inn is a nicely renovated house. The owners and their dogs have mastered inn hospitality with warm greetings, clean comfortable rooms, comfortable beds, excellent breakfasts, and lots of helpful Austin hints...without ever getting in your face (as we have experienced at some other inns).... For my very first trip to Austin, my sweet husband chose the Gateway Guesthouse. It was infinitely more than I thought it would be. He chose The Studio for our weekend getaway. We were headed to a car show at a nearby town, but wanted to stay in Austin. We were greeted by Blaise, offered beverages immediately, and met the... More

Hello to you both. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay because we enjoyed have your ever-so-snappy-vintage car in our driveway! It was just beautiful. Thank you for your kind words about our Studio space. We like to call it "European sized" but most people find it lovely and very suitable for their stay even in the winter months... More

Gateway Guesthouse is a warm and comfortable place to stay in Austin. From the moment that we entered the property, we were treated like family. Bess and Blaise are wonderful hosts. We came to Austin to eat Bess' Breakfasts and to run the Austin Half Marathon. Both were wonderful. The Guesthouse is very conveniently located to Austin's trendy hot spots.... More

It’s our Marathon Conquest-er!! Thank you so much for taking the time to write. It was so funny when you told us you travel often for marathons but Bess’s breakfast brought you to Austin and we just happened to have a ‘marathon on the side’. Great stuff! So glad you enjoyed being here, doing your short run in Travis Heights,... More

Gateway Guesthouse feels like a home away from home in the heart of Austin. We left the Northeast for a long weekend and had a great time. Austin is our new favorite warm place to visit. Watch out Bess and Blaise, we're definitely coming back!
