This is the kind of hotel you *stay* at. It's not that Austin isn't a great town--it is--but the San Jose is so pleasant, it's hard to want to go past the ivy-covered walls. I stayed for one night this month, after having stayed at the San Jose several years ago. It's as good or better than ever. Still stylish,... More

Great laid back style , very boutique. Rooms nicely done and a really lovely courtyard for evening drinks. Great location near some fun shops and cafes. Staff were so helpful. Bikes available for hire. Great wifi.

The staff, great! The atmosphere, incredible! The renovation was done so well. Being in the SoCo neighborhood of Austin sort of reminds me of a cool beach and surf town already and this place makes you have a continued feel of that vibe. It's very hip and eclectic. Area has much architecture from the 50's era and earlier. Foods trucks... More

We were in Austin for a business trip but spent the first night at the San Jose instead of the other corporate hotel and so glad we did! Neither of us wanted to leave the next day. The whole feel of the hotel is so cozy yet you are steps from the hustle of south congress. Our room was pretty... More

I found the hotel san joe in Kinfork magazine. Their interior design and service are awesome. They also have a nice cafe and amenities are Marin+Goez! But young people was singing all the night on the street when we stayed...it was tough to sleep. So I recommend to book a room where doesn't face the street:)

I went to check this place for the future. People have mentioned " minimal " as to the surroundings. Let's put it this way. It looked like a bed found in a monastery. Yes it had a bed. A lamp. A mirror and a toilet. Much to my surprise that rates were not "minimal". It is a great location BUT...I... More

Amazing boutique hotel with less than 30 rooms, very minimal and stark but very Austin. They have awesome Malin and Goetz body products and sell them in the lobby as well. Outside bar and private pool make this a must stop in Austin.

I was excited to try the San Jose. I usually stay with friends while in Austin so this was a special treat. When booking travel I seek out the boutique and modern hotels so this was on my list of one to try. The grounds are beautiful! The courtyard became our hangout for the next seven or so hours until... Anytime we can afford it, we stay at the Hotel San Jose. Most recent visit was in February 2014 and we literally stayed onsite for bulk of trip. As a native Austinite, sightseeing isn't a high priority for me...lounging around the pool/bar is. Plenty of restaurants/food trucks within walking distance, as well as Congress Avenue Bridge (think Batman), Town Lake... More

My husband wanted to stay at the Hotel San Hose, but we decided to go elsewhere in SoCo. To get a feel for the place we went to the outdoor patio for a drink and it was delightful. Wonderful welcoming bar staff, interesting drink offerings, and a super ambiance for unwinding after an active day. I had a sparking wine/passion... More
