I arrived at the hostel around 11:30 pm, and the front desk asked me to wait for TWO MINUTES before he can checking me in. However I waited for at least 20 mins. At last I can't bear to wait, and went to my friend's place for staying, although it means no cancellation, I still needed to pay $27. When... More

I wanted to save money but I really, really regret it. The Wifi was out of service all weekend and the staff didn't care. which is weird because they did have the internet, weirdly. the dorm rooms smell awful, open showers. Also it's the first time that I've seen a hostel with no bottled water, which is like, the BASIS... More

Sorry to hear about your unsatisfactory experience. Unfortunately our guest wifi router broke over the weekend and we were unable to get it repaired until Monday morning. I can assure everyone that this does not happen often and our staff did all that they could to rectify a situation that was out of their hands. Also, we plan on getting... More

I've stayed at many hostels in the past 2 years and I can't say enough good things about HI Hostel Austin. It's very clean, the staff is very helpful, there's a basic breakfast included, free parking, and lots of space for doing what you want to do socially or otherwise. HI Austin is right on the Lake with a walking/biking... More

In August 2014, I did an overnight stay with a large group at Hostel International in Austin, Texas. Being my first experience with a hostel and having heard mixed reviews on these places, I wasn’t expecting much. At $30 per night in Austin, I figured a clean bed would be the most I could expect. I was pleasantly surprised by... More

The location is away from the downtown area but you could walk there as I did. The surrounding area is peaceful & tranquil. To catch a bus to the city center or airport, you will have to walk a bit. Otherwise, the staff was awesome. The common areas are great. The rooms were good enough. The toilets were stinking quite... More

Awesome location right off of Lady Bird Lake. Staff was friendly and informative. We especially appreciated the lasagna dinner for $3.00 on Monday night. Some locals from Austin came out and discussed travelling which was a nice treat as well. Breakfast in the morning was adequate but nothing too special. Big thanks to HEB Central Market for the donated variety... More

I had a private room for one night during the Arctic Blast. 2 issues: 1. The heating system is a mess. It got down into the 30's that night and the staff set the thermostat for me from 61 (!) to 70. But the thermostat measures temperature in the hall, not our rooms and the heat registers were in our... More

I went there for 3 days, the place for the price is $32.00 a night with kitchen use and internet use was good, the dorm room was freezing cold i had to keep asking for the heat to be turned on. The people that go there were weird, (Let's keep Austin weird)? Oh, well, one wanted me to buy her... More

We stayed here for one night, which was Halloween. The hostel is very nice and clean, very organised and has very good rates. We stayed in a mixed 14 bed dorm which was not too noisy. The hostel is only a 5 min cab away from Austins famous sixth street. The staff were very friendly and helpful, The location is... More

This hostel is avery peaceful place along the lake, perfect for a Sunday morning stroll on the boarwald, or a nice coffee, watching times go by. The common areas are cosy and it's easy to meet people, Internet is good, breakfast too, as well as bathrooms, although showers are a bit too communal, but seems to be something normal in... More
