This was our first trip to Austin and everyone said we had to stay here. We booked 5 nights and lucky enough to get the last room available. I would suggest booking well in advance. I booked via email but would have preferred secure online booking. Room was clean and bed was comfy. Anyone visiting should definitely swim in the... More

All you need to know: 1) Great location near cool bars, food and coffee shops with a bus stop across the street to take you downtown or to any attraction for just $1 ($2 for day pass) 2) Lovely pool to take the sting out of a hot Texas day 3) Cute, quirky and most importantly clean rooms You'll love... We stayed here for 3 nights. It's an older motel and def. not posh, but still clean and has everything u need. Our room (King) did not have any dressers, the a/c unit was loud, too much light entered the window, and the pillows were the hardest I've ever encountered. BUT, I am not complaining. For the price and location,... More

The Austin motel made our first trip to Austin so wonderful. We stayed at one of the 'poolside' rooms, which was pretty big with a nice sized bathroom as well. The pool is a nice size and they have kitchy lounge chairs. The best part of the motel is the location, its right next to great shops, a good coffee... More

I think your stay is going to depend on your mindset going into this. If you go into this thinking you are going to stay at an upscale, romantic hotel you are going to be dissappointed. If you go into this thinking you are going to stay in a great priced, awesomely located, older motel you should be fine. Like... More

The hype on the Austin Motel & it's more expensive "sister" down the street - the San Jose - just DON'T do it for me! I've now stayed in both places (the San Jose is TWICE as expensive) are just entirely "to hip" for me. I've spent years on the the road in my career and in my experience -... More

As many have said before, you can't beat the location of the Austin Motel. Yes, it is dated, they don't provide a lot of amenities, and at least the cheapest rooms are pretty basic. But we found it to be clean, quiet (we were in the section with one floor - no one above us), and enjoyed the quirky, old... More

I placed two friends in this motel for their two night stay in Austin. I went down to check out the motel before I helped my friends make their reservations. I was shown an open room in the lower level of the motel and it was a retro design, sort of like an old adobe looking structure with older, but... More

It's true. It's funky. I wanted to stay here so bad and was ready to "rough it." or so I thought. The room is small and that's okay. But the bed!!!! It was one of those creeky soft beds that you couldn't turn over in. I did not sleep ALL night. If you're okay with that, you'll like the place.... More

This is a classic motel, very retro and very hip. The rooms are typically sized and comfortable with basic amenities. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, and the lobby provides coffee and tea in the mornings. There is a lovely pool so bring your suit. The attached restaurant, Snack Bar, is excellent for food and drink, and they will... More
