My first pet peeve with this hotel chain is the lobby or lack thereof. It just always bothers me when travelling when you enter a new hotel and you're met with a non-descript window in a cramped hallway. I dont expect an elaborate lobby like in a 5* NYC hotel, but this is the face of your hotel and provides... more

On May 17, 2008 I was staying as guest at the Candlewood Suites Arboretum-Northwest Upon entering the bed and laying for a few moments, I began to notice an extremely odd and pungent smell, I thought maybe it was nothing and tried to ignore. After a little while longer, I kept noticing that same awful smell and I started to... more

At Candlewood Suites, we strive to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness throughout our hotel. Our housekeeping staff undergoes extensive training to ensure that every guest room is properly prepared so that every guest feels at home when they arrive. We cannot begin to understand how one of our beds would come to be in an unsanitary condition without appearing...

Overall quite good. Stayed 3 days on a business trip in this hotel. The hotel is located north from Austin, conveniently close to all the major accesses to downtown (highway 2 minutes from the hotel). Parking is large and free. The rooms are nice and quite large. You get also a complete kitchen, with micro-wave, refrigerator, tableware, coffee marker, free... more

Overall this Candlewood is rather nice. I normally stay at the Hampton Inn about a mile away, but since Priority Club is having some really good promotions right now, I decided to go ahead and stay at the Candlewood. The rate is about $30 less than the Hampton Inn, albeit with fewer perks. That being said, this is a different... more

I stayed at the Candlewood as I was visiting the University of Texas. I was a bit apprehensive reading the reviews so had low expectations. As the university had once booked me at an adorable bed and breakfast for a previous stay a few years past, I was concerned about this choice. The hotel check-in was convenient and fast; everyone... more

I remember when this hotel first opened up in 1992 with hopes and ambitions for the business traveler. It was a cheerful hotel with a fresh staff. The Honor System cupboard, washing machines, exercise room, and hotel was all fresh. This business hotel is still a nice concept, but this particular property looks and SMELLS old and tired. It feels... more

I stayed for one night at this hotel becasue EVERYTHING else was pretty much booked in Arboretum and I wasn't sure of staying in Austin Downtown since it was my fist time to the city and I didn't know long things were away from each other. The hotel does not have a swimming pool> it's close to a highway and... more

We recently stayed at the Candlewood Suites and my advice to other travelers would be to avoid it at all costs!!! I requested a non-smoking room that reeked of smoke. The hallways also had a very bad odor (combination of musty and smoke) The front desk clerk was a great example of poor customer service. This hotel did not even... more

We took two rooms for three adults and and infant. First problem was getting to the hotel. It is located between a junction of three freeways with lots of overpasses, underpasses one way streets etc. A weary out of town traveller can have a heck of a time getting to it even with hasty instructions over the phone. The rooms... more

Staff was rude and confused. One lady told me to "Move". Very rude. It was right after we checked in. They called my room while I was resting and went "Oh sorry wrong room" only to call right back. The staff repeatedly told us one thing only to have other staff tell us something different. Sometimes even moments later. We... more
