This hotel used to be really nice for the money. I used to come over here about 7-8 years ago and it used to be really nice. What happened? It was overpriced for what we got and the room was filthy. There was hair in the bathtub and when we complained to the front desk they could have cared less.... more

Just spent a couple of nights at the Clarion - South IH 35 @ Oltorf.  This property exceeded my expectations.  It is definitely an older hotel that has undergone some significant upgrading.  I had a queen room, on the small side.  Comfortable bed.  The room had a minifridge, microwave and coffeemaker.  The sink area was partitioned off by room divider... more

We booked this hotel with some trepidation after reading the reviews, but price and location won us over. We stayed for 2 nights in Sept 2007, all I can say is most of these reviewers must be vary fussy or expect too much from a budget hotel. We found it to be a better than average motel. comfortable rooms, nice... more

We recently stayed at the Clarion from March 5th until March 14th, 2008. The rooms have been recently renovated and are very nicely decorated with extremely comfortable beds. (and we are very, very picky about beds) After checking out on the 12th we had to stay in Austin for 2 additional days. Hotels were booked due to the SXSW conference.... more

We were definitely expecting the worst, after our company booked us here and reading on this site the poor experiences people have had. Fortunately, our experience was not nearly as bad. The hotel is definitely showing its age, and the entire facility (and rooms) are very nondescript. The bed was comfortable, however. I found it odd that many rooms (including... more

Stayed here on a business trip, and didn't know the company was scrimping so much on accomodations... The door to my room was on the ground floor of the backside of the building. As a woman alone in the room, you can guess how it felt to have people walking by and nothing but a flimsy window between us. Also,... more

We were forced to stay here for three sleepless nights recently, and if you can find anywhere else in Austin with a vacancy, I'd take it. This is a fantastic place to stay if you like cockroaches (dead or alive), paper thin walls, non-existent security, smoke-residued rooms, ill-timed wake up calls, scary electical systems and moldy showers with low water... more

I arrived in the early evening, and was told there was only one room left. When I went to the room, it smelled strongly of perfume. The windows in the room did not open to be able to clear out the smell. I went back to the front desk, and it turned out that there was only one room left... more

After reading the reviews, the Clarion on I-35 seemed like a good place to stay. We got in near midnight from our flight, and the front desk person was very nice, but the prominent notice of problems with car break-ins was a little disconcerting. The room was a bit worn, with poor caulking around the tub, replaced security lock on... more

This is a very adequate hotel, just a few miles south of downtown. Nice rooms, pool area, free parking, free internet, free continental breakfast. Nothing excellent, but everything OK. One extra: there are two lobby computers to access the internet free for guests...you can even print your boarding pass for free. more
