We often stay in budget hotels and are used to places that are worn or a little outdated, and are pretty tolerant of that. We decided to stay at the Big Texan while we toured Palo Duro Canyon. What a mistake. The room was dirty - food on the floors behind the nightstand and bed skirts dirty. The table top... More

This motel was quite a laugh to stay in as it was themed like an old style western town from the outside. The bed covers were cow print, there were wooden shutters on the windows and even a cow print shower curtain. I also saw limos with bull horns on the front. We were in a second floor room and... Not to be missed if you want to experience the ultimate Texas!! Steak, fun and all round Texas, great way to spend a night! The food was great, portions are huge! The gift shop has some quirky gifts too!

We stayed only 1 night and that's about all we could take. If you're looking for overnight accommodations this is it, luxury keep looking. I get it's touristy but a little updating wouldn't hurt. The room was clean but our sheets didn't look like it so we asked for new ones. We stayed for the "old west" experience but won't... More

Themed like an old west cowboy town this motel is a treat. Where else will you get swinging bar doors into the bathroom, cowhide chair, cowboy best side lamps. The size of the rooms and bathroom are generous with a king sized bed and very clean. We didn't hear any noise from the adjoining rooms, carpark or the Big Texan... More

I liked it, it made me smile when I walked into my room. It was decked out like a western room, but het that's their thing after all it is Texas! When was the last time you had wooden shutters as opposed to curtains or blinds? Seriously tho.... The room/motel was clean its quiet reasonable price parking lot had ample... More

Very touristy but what good fun. Designed as an old cowboy town. We stayed in the Cattlemen's Hotel & loved the rustic look of the room. From the wooden walls & shutters, saloon style swing doors to the sink area right down to the Texas Lone Star which decorated everything including plug sockets & light switches! It was a Saturday... What a great quirky place. Set up like an old West streetscape & with a funky multi-coloured paint scheme and limos parked out the front with bull horns on the hoods. Rooms are spacious & decked out in western decor. Cowboys , swinging doors to the bathroom & even a cowhide chair. Bed was king size & comfortable. I had... More

At first I was a bit put off by the faux-cow town exterior, which was cute but screamed "tourist trap." However, the room was a real cut above that. Granted, the décor was rustic, but that was intentional and I thought well executed. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the room was well sound-proofed. The room was clean and well-cared... We stayed here while on vacation the outside looks an old western town the room we had was covered with wood. The windows had shutters for blinds and swinging doors to divide the bathroom from the rest of the room. We felt very comfortable here just what we needed. If you stay here don't forget to eat at the big... More
