We stayed here on the way to Big Bend. I had seen bad reviews about the restaurant/brew pub. When we stayed there the management had changed and the restaurant had been closed. Although we missed the brew pub, the hotel experience was wonderful. The service was great. We stayed in the Crow's Nest, a tiny room on the top of... more

My husband and I are in our early sixties, and discovered Texas through its music around 8 years ago. We live in Wales, UK, and visit Texas every Spring. My job as a teacher means we have to limit our break to two weeks, so every moment counts. This year we took our second trip to Big Bend. On the... more

My girlfriend and I stayed here around Thanksgiving time while driving back home. When we arrived we were told that we were being upgraded to the Honeymoon Suite free of charge which was great. The rooms were super clean and huge. It's a nice quiet place, well worth the money. more

Upon arrival we learned that we were upgraded to a bigger room so our value was outstanding. Everyone working here seems to really care about making all the guest happy, you do not see this genuine hospitality very much anymore at any price. They let a large group of bikers park their motorcycles inside during a threat of severe weather.... more

My wife, parents and mother-in-law all stayed at the Holland just a couple of weeks after a change in ownership, managment, and staff. The stay was great! These people {epecially Hans} were in a dead run all the time to accomadate every guest in a fully booked hotel. Yes, they hit a few snags with maintanence issues that kept us... more

My wife was born in Alpine and we decided to visit since she had not been there in over 25 years. I did a search and came up with the Holland Hotel. Reviews were all good so we made the reservations. It is clean and certainly historic,. The prices are extremely reasonable and the front desk folks pleasent, but some... more

My husband and I just returned from a trip to Big Bend National Park (and chose to stay in Alpine because of the availability and value of the lodging- which was $60+ tax per night.) I chose the Holland Hotel after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor; and we stayed 2 nights. Check-in was after hours, so as posted in... more

This is the BEST place to stay in Alpine, TX - "on the doorstep" of Big Bend National Park - staff is exceptionally helpful and accomodating, rates (esp. weekly when avail.) are fantastic, unique room decors make this a refreshing change from "chain" hotels. The Holland is downtown Alpine and within easy walking distance to decent eateries, shopping, and needed... more

This was our fallback hotel for a trip to Big Bend National Park. It is about an hour and a half drive to the park. I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. It is old, but very well maintained. The room was no-frills, but met our needs at a great price. The staff was without exception friendly, courteous, and efficient.... more

The bad news is that the restaurant suddenly closed and a foreclosure auction was delayed, but good is that a prior owner is now in charge of the hotel again and quickly bringing it back. Staff bent over backward for us while at the same time upgrading wiring and systems, long neglected maintenance, and working long hours to correct what... more
