Such an interesting place to stay. Modest but clean and well kept rooms. We went to Abilene specifically to stay here and do not regret it. We purchased a bottle of wine, cheese, and crackers from a local store. Took them back to the motel and set outside with our neighbors and the owner (Donovan). We had a wonderful time... More

My husband & I arrived at almost 10 p.m. and were warmly greeted by Donovan, our host. The room was immaculate, warm and ready for a comfy night's sleep. Donovan made us feel right at home, presented our breakfast menu options and was eager to accommodate our morning schedule. The bed was very comfortable, sheets were luxurious, towels were soft... Such a wonderful stop! Wish we could have stayed longer and done the art lesson! Donovan was a perfect host, an AMAZING artist and so welcoming. The rooms are clean and quaint, the landscaping is an oasis to the area, and the details and points of interest around the property are really neat. So glad we stayed here!

You won't be disappointed with a stay at sparhawk B and B . The owner and gifted artist treats you like royalty and makes your whole experience the greatest. The casual breakfast is fantastic. Loved the personal art gallery tour. I just wished we would have had more time to relax in the beautiful garden.

I'm so glad that we stayed here! This charming motellette is tucked away into a little green belt centrally located to Abilene. My husband and I loved the breakfasts under the pecan tree by the waterfall. The koi pond was better than TV, with the occassional egret eyeing a mid morning snack. The Road King had a great time visiting... More

My husband and I went the the sparhawk bed and breakfast for our honeymoon this past weekend. Donovan was wonderful. He was incredibly attentive and helpful. We even got a pedicab ride to the west to go next block over. We loved his breakfast. Ask him for the hash browns he makes. They're the best! He also makes wonderful sushi!... More

This is a charming refurbished motel from the 1950s nestled between a green creek bed and a gas station. The owner is a gregarious artist who makes intricate paper airplanes as his business cards. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and the continental breakfast delicious. With a giant paper airplane sculpture near the garden, trains passing by, and coy... More

We always stay at the Sparhawk art gallery when in Abilene. Donovan Sparhawk is an artist who is a real free spirit and has lots of ideas. It is refreshing to meet someone who is more unconventional and doesn't just do the same old thing as most people. The facilities include 3 guest rooms and an art gallery where Donovan... More

We drove there for a weekend to check out more of Texas. It was an old motel that the owner, Donovan Sparhawk apparently saved a portion of..all of three rooms! He was a very pleasant host as was his partner. His artwork was interesting and so was his paper airplane making, but we had intended to have more time together... More

I have stayed at b&b's before, & I went into it knowing that this would be a little different.  The rooms were small but very comfortable, and I got a great night's sleep.  There is a train nearby that runs several times a day, but it really didn't bother me. The area inside the gate had a couple of non-running... More
