Plus+: The room rates are very good for an interesting historic venue and the hotel is well located. Up and down+/-: The hotel is iffy. Its exterior is beautiful, but the first room we were assigned gave us the creeps. The front desk was very accommodating and gave us another very nice room immediately. Unfortunately, it wasn't ready for occupants... more

I chose the Hotel Aiken for its central location in the hisotric district while on business. Great value and courteous staff. I've read some negative posts regarding the hotel's dated nature...look, if you're into feeling the historic district and the accompanying ambiance - this place has charm at an extremely reasonable price. more

This hotel is way past due for a remodel. The carpet and furniture are worn, and my tub had a cigarette burn. It didn't seem dirty, other than the roach in its death throes. The location is good. But also it's in the center of Aiken nightlife, which makes parking problematic on a Saturday night. The bed was comfortable. Not... more

Hotel Aiken was the perfect hotel for experiencing the city of Aiken. It's charming after its years of renovations. The history of the place is phenomenal, in which the staff are more than happy to share their knowledge of its existence. For example, their elevator is considered the oldest of its kind in the entire southeast. The rooms are comfortable,... more

Our experience with the Hotel Aiken was very mixed. Unlike other reviewers, we didn't smell anything stinky (always a plus), and found much of the quirks of the place charming (e.g. the staff-operated elevator). The bathroom was remodeled and nice, and the bedroom acceptable if a bit worn. The uncomfortably soft/mushy mattress gave us souvenir backaches. The adjacent restaurant, 100... more

I was at this hotel the weekend of July 10th for an AAU basketball tournament. Great location located near the college campus for the games. The hotel is located near the mall, and nearby shops and its very easy to drive around Aiken. The staff was very nice, friendly and helpful. The hotel is nice and clean. I would stay... more

The Hotel Aiken is a great place to stay for experiencing southern charm in a historic setting. As an frequent business traveller, I look for places that break the corporate mold of an "accumulated points" based system. Generic cookie cutter hotels continuously overlook the beauty and intrigue of their local settings. This is not the case with the Hotel Aiken.... more

I travel often and couldn't have been happier to find the Hotel Aiken to put on my list of "need to go back" hotels. After staying there I found it difficult to believe the negative comments but realized that the hotel was remodeled after the comments were made and the changes have improved the hotel greatly. I enjoyed the historic... more

I got this on hotwire. It said it was a 3 star which they claim is equivalent to a holiday inn or doubletree. Well this hotel is a NO star. It looks like something out of the movie the Shining and the staff are like zombies walking around clueless. I think they probably don't get paid anything so they are... more

As I read the reviews for this property, I am left to wonder what some of these people were looking at when they booked their room. Their website clearly states that this hotel is over 100 years old. It is also very clear that more modern accommodations are available in their motel style rooms out back. If you book this... more
