This is the second time we stayed here. It is a quaint historical place to stay. We definitely will return a third time. Yes the road is noisy but it feels like home. The upstairs restaurant is excellent. We had a gourmet dinner at a price that you would pay at a chain restaurant. There was also a bar downstairs... More

I preface this by saying it started off on a bad note. We arrived at 5 pm on a Saturday - with reservations. At check in, the girl at the counter gave us a room overlooking the Main Street, which is very noisy. I went back downstairs and asked if they had any rooms in a different area. She told... More

A wonderful find after all the chain hotels in Hanover were booked for the night. Very quaint, historic and a lovely place to stay. This hotel and inn was built in 1790 and has been maintained and renovated to reflect the old days. The food was delicious! This will be on our list to stay here again!!

My husband and I stayed here in February in one of the largest rooms. It had a sectional seating area, kitchenette, king bed, and huge bathroom with jacuzzi tub and shower. This place has a homey feel and very friendly staff. We arrived late and ate dinner in the upstairs restaurant. The meal was nice. We felt very comfortable here.... More

My husband and I returned to the Altland House for the second time since June. Room 20 was even nicer than room 25 .. Our friends who live in the area joined us for dinner and it was a wonderful experience.. Food was top shelf and our waitress was pleasant and efficient... When we checked in we asked if we... More

Stayed four nights at the Altland. The room was clean and comfortable but customer service was impersonal if not absent. Had to go searching for help on at least two occasions. No parking is reserved for guests so we had to park across the street due to partygoers in the basement bar. Historically interesting but mediocre at best.

I chose this hotel based on the picture of the building. It was built in 1790 and still looks like the carriage stop it may have been during the 1800s. Located on the round a bout on Rt 30 in Abbottstown made it easy to find and not that far from Gettysburg. Room price was reasonable, much more comfortable than... More

We stayed here in June for Gettysburg Bike week. It is about 20 min from Gettysburg, very cool place to stay. Nice bar downstairs and restaurant upstairs. You have to try the turtle soup! ! If you don't mind staying just outside of town to save a lot money, especially during Bike week when everyone hikes their prices, I would... More

My wife and I stayed here one night this past June. The building is historic but has been restored while keeping most of its old-world charm but with modern comforts like air conditioning and wifi. The bed was comfortable. The room was a little dark but otherwise large and nice. I know you do not come here for the TV,... More

We looked at the menu online which enticed us to stop, I was excited by the porch seating and we were told we could sit where we wanted. From there it went down hill. The strawberry daiquiri didn't taste like such. We ordered chicken & waffles and a cheeseburger and fries for my child. The chicken was good but the... More
