The location of the B&B couldn't be better. You are less than a 1/2 mile from the theater, within easy walking distance, but off of the main road, so you don't have a lot of traffic noise. The garden is very peaceful and my boyfriend and I had a nice nap on the hammock. The owners are very friendly and... more

My daughter and I were in Ashland for the OSF. The B&B provided the same type of physical rest and relaxation of the body and spirit that is offered by the plays themselves. The breakfast conversation with Howie and the other guests is the most amazing thing to find in a world gone mad with haste. Every morning we interpreted... more

My wife and I love Ashland and the Chanticleer gives us one more reason for visiting. Ellen and Howie are great hosts and our room on the top floor (Fleur) was well appointed, quiet, and very comfortable. The location is ideal and affords an easy walk to the downtown Ashland area. We never needed to use are car for any... more

My husband and I and two other adult friends have stayed eight times at this charming, Craftsman Style house. We feel as if we are at our home away from home! The hosts, Ellen and Howie, are wonderfully intelligent and enthusiastic about the town and the Shakespeare Festival and they attract guests of the same type. Breakfast is served at... more

The Chanticleer was a great minibreak getaway. It's walking distance from everything in downtown Ashland, the accomodations are lovely with great attention to detail (but not stuffy), and of course there is always lively converation over the inventive and yummy breakfast. more

I spend a lot of time on the road, and it was such a pleasant change of pace to stay at the Chanticleer Inn. I was able to enjoy the weekend, relax, and get some rest, but also had a good time chatting with the other guests and with Ellen and Howie. They make you feel right at home, except... more

The Chanticleer Inn is a very comfortable, warm and cozy place to stay in Ashland. It is within walking distance of both the Ashland theatre district, downtown and restaurants. The owners are helpful and the food very good. The owner even makes sure all diet needs are addressed. I highly recommend this inn for your stay in Ashland. Tedde McMillen... more

My wife Mary Frances and I spent two delightful days here in late October 2008. This has to be the best B&B I have ever frequented! Ellen's breakfasts were incredible and the conversation was an unexpected treat. I was reminded of my childhood when my family spent hours sitting around the table talking after the meal was done. It was... more
