We visit Ashland almost yearly for the Shakespearean Festival. And when we do, we ALWAYS stay at the Chanticleer Inn. Ellen is amazing and has, over the last ten years become a good friend as well as an amazing innkeeper. The rooms are wonderful, the breakfasts alway delightful and the coffee and cookies (did I say cookies?) are great. We... More

The Chanticleer is a lovely B & B located conveniently close to the O.S.F. and downtown Ashland. The rooms are comfortable and immaculately kept, but what distinguishes the Chanticleer is Innkeeper, Ellen Campbell. Ellen is charming, knowledgeable and makes every effort to insure that your stay is memorable.

We travel quite a bit and enjoy staying at B&Bs. We have stayed here twice now, and would not stay anywhere else in Ashland. Ellen is warm and friendly and the accommodations are well appointed, clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious and coffee excellent. We were delighted each day to find our room was cleaned and made up while... More

It's a great place from which to devour the Shakespeare Festival. The rooms are very comfortable, the location is convenient, and the breakfasts to die for. Ellen is a very good hostess and, invariably, the other guests--those we don't know and those we've come to know--are interesting and sociable people. The times talking after plays are terrific and provocative. Annual... More

Place not booked but hostess did not offer larger room. Other room fine with great garden and seating area. Adjacent room would have been desirable. Food good. Hostess reticent offering any recipes even of muffins. Said "buy book!" Ellen friendly interesting and extremely knowledgable. A lot of maintenance work occurring while there. Took away a little of atmosphere. Location convenient... More

We were in a large daylight basement room with an exceptionally comfortable bed. The house was quiet and the garden well cared for. The house is a 1940s style home that is well-appointed and comfortable. The breakfast was exceptional. It is an easy walk to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival plays and downtown restaurants. Ashland is a favorite of ours and... More

Dear "2oldgeesers", First off, let's get something straight! None of my guests are old geesers. O.K. some might be geesers, but not old! ;-) Having got that off my chest, I loved hosting you two and thank you every so much for the charming review. -- Ellen More

I have stayed in 4 different Inns now when making our annual Ashland Shakespeare trip. Chanticleer is an excellent choice. A short walk to the theater, downtown and several good restaurants, this Inn has all the personal and thoughtful touches that you would expect at a high end B&B. Gourmet breakfasts, luxe linens, comfortable beds and furniture. And then there... More

I'll start with the breakfast which was as good as you would expect at a top rated restaurant. The best coffee I ever had. The presentation matched the taste. The room was clean with a very comfortable bed. The B&B was an easy walk to the downtown area. The garden is a work of art. Our host Ellen was extremely... More

The house was wonderful. It was an easy walk to the heart of Ashland, although only $3/day to park even closer in the public pay garage near the theaters, if desired. Private off-street parking at the Inn. Very nice room with AC. The breakfasts were absolutely unique and tasty - best we've had in some tim e at a B&B.... More

All of your needs are met at this well-appointed B&B. The house and each room are generously decorated with numerous amenities, which makes Chanticleer a very comfortable home. The garden and koi pond are absolutely beautiful attracting butterflies, woodpeckers, and deer. The breakfasts are wholesome, delicious and come complete with a fruit plate, hot dish, and homemade pastry served with... More
