This was our first stay at the Chanticleer Inn and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Ellen is a wonderful host and engages everyone in interesting conversation. The room was exactly to our tastes and the breakfasts were fabulous. Inn staff are friendly and very efficient. The location allows for parking of one's car and walking to every place in Ashland. We come to Ashland every year for the Shakespeare Festival. This year we stayed at the Chanticleer Inn and had a wonderful experience. Located in a quiet neighborhood, it is an easy walk to Ashland. Surrounded by a beautiful garden, the Inn is cozy, clean and relaxing. We loved hanging- out in the backyard two-person hammock. The gourmet breakfast was... More

Astounding, breathtaking hospitality, in a perfect location, location, location...!!! Ellen is the perfect owner/innkeeper... As soon as the drought ends, and the rains return, the landscaping will return to its English Garden masterpiece/self... The food and focus on guest comforts are, as usual, are unmatched. We first stayed at Chanticleer some 30 years ago; and, to say they have improved... More

Ellen is an extraordinary hostess; gracious, generous and a great cook! Her home is beautiful and comfortable, and she shares it warmly. Along with a terrific staff, I've never felt more at home, while away from home.

We love the ground floor patio rooms. Quiet, flowers abound, outside tables to share time with others. Nneat people to discuss Shakespeare and other matters with at breakfast. The friendliness of the hostess is dep and authentic.

he Chanticleer Inn is the perfect combination of Home and Hospitality. The living room is very comfortable with the lots of books and the New York Times available. Ellen’s morning coffee is a great start. The breakfast that follows is terrific: fresh seasonal fruit and healthy dishes. Each meal was a treat and each guests special food/diet needs were met... Staying at the Chanticleer has become a yearly treat for us. We spent five nights this year, saw 8 plays (OK, that's more than most would recommend in one visit) and were well cared for by Ellen and the Chanticleer staff. Breakfast is always a treat, with good food and interesting conversation with other guests. We will be back again... More

Chanticleer Inn is in a great location and surrounded by beautiful gardens and tree-lined streets. The Inn has a comfortable and welcoming feel with lots of areas to relax. The host, Ellen, runs a beautiful B&B and takes great care of her guests (the breakfasts are fantastic). Always happy to chat and spend time explaining some of the great features... More

Gracious owner. Charming room (Jardin) with all amenities. Beautiful garden lovingly tended. Breakfasts are delicious and innovative. Delightful and intelligent guests are an added plus to our morning meal conversations. Walking distance to theaters restaurants and shopping. I have been coming to Chanticleer Inn for more than 20 years. A home away from home.
