This is a great place to stay in Ashland - very comfortable, warm and welcoming. Ellen is a wonderful host and is very attentive to the needs of guests. The location is ideal for exploring the town and for access to restaurants and theatres. We would definitely return.

Ellen is warm, friendly, funny, and seems to know exactly how to make guests feel completely at home. She and her staff made this a relaxing stay, with comfy and clean accommodations, spontaneous humor-filled conversations, and attention to my specific dietary needs at breakfast. The only drawbacks to our stay were a queen bed when a king would have been... More

All around excellent stay. No weak areas. Would definitely stay there again. Owner, Ellen, was fun and very helpful with the plays, restaurants and knowledge of the town. Location is easy walking distance which is a big plus.

Terrific B and B. Ellen was welcoming and provided dinner tips, etc. Breakfast was fun and delicious. Would stay there again for sure. Loved the experience. Festival and Ashland were fun too. -------------------------------------

I stayed with the Chanticleer Inn in Ashland for four nights. The location was great, walking distance to everything downtown. The Inn was extremely clean, and the décor was very nice. The garden was absolutely wonderful to sit in, especially with a glass of wine after a long day of site seeing or hiking! Ellen's staff was excellent. They made... More

From the moment we stepped foot in this pleasant B and B, the owner warmly greeted us and confirmed our dietary restrictions. The restrictions were accommodated with panache, as the gourmet breakfasts were the best we have experienced at a B and B. Ellen, the owner, is cordial and helpful, and the location is great, a short walk from the... More

We've just had our eighth stay at Chanticleer (since 2002), and it felt just like coming home. Once my husband discovered this exceptional inn, close to Ashland's center and the Shakespeare festival's venues, we've never considered staying anywhere else in or near Ashland. Ellen expertly and efficiently runs a beautiful, comfortable, elegant, AND homey (in the best sense) establishment, a... More

Ellen does an amazing job with her B&B. We stayed in two different rooms during our stay. Both were very nice. The gardens are beautiful, and the front porch welcoming. We sat on the porch swing in the evening and drank tea as well as the morning while we had our coffee. From the porch we watched deer wander through... More
