We were delighted with our stay at the Chanticleer Inn for a week of plays and a gathering of friends. The accommodations were nicely appropriate to the house's age while being comfortably modern. The living room/common area was an hospitable, comfortable place for our large group to visit and mix with other guests. Breakfasts were delicious and well presented as... More

My husband and I have been coming to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland for several years. Early on we discovered the Chanticleer Inn and met its matchless proprietress, Ellen Campbell. A stay at the Inn is the perfect compliment to seeing the plays at OSF or hiking the area or visiting nearby towns and sites. The rooms are beautifully... More

We've stayed with Ellen at Chanticleer Inn for years. The welcome is always warm, the facility is charming and spotlessly clean, the landscaping is beautiful, and Ellen is the perfect hostess: Helpful, knowledgeable, and an excellent conversationalist. And it's a pleasant walk to the theaters (but seems a little longer each year).

An early departure by another guest enabled us to spend a wonderful day and night at the lovely Chanticleer Inn; otherwise, I'm sure this lovely B&B would have been booked to its six-room capacity. Its location several blocks up the hill from the main street in a quiet residential neighborhood ensures a peaceful stay. Our handsomely decorated ground-level room was... More

We visit Ashland almost yearly for the Shakespearean Festival. And when we do, we ALWAYS stay at the Chanticleer Inn. Ellen is amazing and has, over the last ten years become a good friend as well as an amazing innkeeper. The rooms are wonderful, the breakfasts alway delightful and the coffee and cookies (did I say cookies?) are great. We... More

The Chanticleer is a lovely B & B located conveniently close to the O.S.F. and downtown Ashland. The rooms are comfortable and immaculately kept, but what distinguishes the Chanticleer is Innkeeper, Ellen Campbell. Ellen is charming, knowledgeable and makes every effort to insure that your stay is memorable.

We travel quite a bit and enjoy staying at B&Bs. We have stayed here twice now, and would not stay anywhere else in Ashland. Ellen is warm and friendly and the accommodations are well appointed, clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious and coffee excellent. We were delighted each day to find our room was cleaned and made up while... More

It's a great place from which to devour the Shakespeare Festival. The rooms are very comfortable, the location is convenient, and the breakfasts to die for. Ellen is a very good hostess and, invariably, the other guests--those we don't know and those we've come to know--are interesting and sociable people. The times talking after plays are terrific and provocative. Annual... More

Place not booked but hostess did not offer larger room. Other room fine with great garden and seating area. Adjacent room would have been desirable. Food good. Hostess reticent offering any recipes even of muffins. Said "buy book!" Ellen friendly interesting and extremely knowledgable. A lot of maintenance work occurring while there. Took away a little of atmosphere. Location convenient... More

We were in a large daylight basement room with an exceptionally comfortable bed. The house was quiet and the garden well cared for. The house is a 1940s style home that is well-appointed and comfortable. The breakfast was exceptional. It is an easy walk to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival plays and downtown restaurants. Ashland is a favorite of ours and... More

Dear "2oldgeesers", First off, let's get something straight! None of my guests are old geesers. O.K. some might be geesers, but not old! ;-) Having got that off my chest, I loved hosting you two and thank you every so much for the charming review. -- Ellen More
