The Columbia is a historic downtown hotel. We stayed in a spacious room with separate sitting room and private bath. The cost was $95.00, which we considered a bargain. The room was clean and the bathroom was recently remodeled and had a large clawfoot bathtub/shower. The hotel is centrally located in downtown and allows for easy walking everywhere. Definitely recommended.

I came with a group of 35 musicians from around the world and we took over the whole hotel. What an incredible find! The Columbia is a gem, full of charm, very clean, and in the perfect location -- close to so many great bars and restaurants. We only stayed for one night but wish we could have stayed longer.... We were spending one night in Ashland on our way to Bellingham. This hotel was very quaint, comfortable, great location. We had a courtyard room with bathroom, plenty big enough, shower in the bathroom. We didn't manage to park in the hotel car park but street parking was easy. Would stay here again

We were very pleased with our room, great linens, nice roomy room, loved the decor. But, wall are so thin that you can hear everything in adjoining rooms. Plus, we felt that we had to wispier or everyone could hear us. It should also be clear that there is only 2 toilets for females, for the whole hotel. It would... More

This is a fantastic place to stay. The price is right, especially considering the central location! We walked from there to the theater, it was a pretty short walk, and a straight shot from the back door. There are tons of restaurants, bars, shops, etc. all near the hotel. It is in such a convenient spot! Lots of stairs might... More

I love this hotel, and the fact that you have to walk up a few steps to get there and walk a few steps out of your room to bathroom and the shower did not dampen my enthusiasm one bit! I was in Ashland for the Shakespeare Oxford Fellowship Conference, September 24-27, 2015, and the hotel was convenient and extremely... More

We enjoyed our stay at the Columbia Hotel and in Ashland. This hotel is very close to all the theatres. The room was very comfortable, clean and pleasantly decorated. The hotel has a great character. I love the old phone booth in the lobby.

This is our third stay at the Columbia Hotel. Managed to find parking in the back lot, so we were able to forget the car for the 3 nights we were there. So conveniently located to restaurants and shops, and of course the Shakespeare Festival. Very friendly and helpful personnel. Be advised that there are steep stairs leading from the... More

First time in Ashland and found this hotel online. Loved the idea of staying in an old hotel with a history instead of the cookie cutter ones. Thought the stairs made for a dramatic entrance and loved the lobby area. The clerk who checked us in was very friendly (forgot his name sorry!!) Had no issues with the shared bathroom... More

I'm going with 5 to help to offset lower ratings from the fussbudgets who should have stayed at the Ashland Springs, or even the sister property, The Palm. The Columbia is a wonderfully welcome step back 100 years to the way hotels used to be. If you can't handle shared bathrooms (and at my last count, there are 3 showers,... More
