This was a very disappointing stay. For what we paid, we had a very small room, en suite. There were spots on the carpet, the room smelled of urine. The manager did look into it and gave us a can of spray which helped. No TV, hair dryer. We have traveled throughout Europe and are used to things not being... more

My parents reserved a room here for July 2009. My father passed away one week before the trip, but the hotel would only give my mother a partial refund of her deposit (because "they had to offer the room at a reduced rate" after the cancellation) and charged a $50 fee on top of that. That's just cold-blooded. more

We're from Seattle -- it was 99 degrees when we arrived. The hotel has a great location, the rooms are immaculate, the front staff is friendly. Call us wimps, but we wanted air conditioning. It is really hot in the room and on the main street (so opening the window does cause some noise, though Ashland gets quiet at night).... more

We booked this hotel as we drove, after spending a week on the Rogue River. We were hot, tired, and in need of showers. I was told on the phone that there was one room left, and that it "shared a bathroom." This brought on a vision of two rooms with a common bathroom. I asked if the room was... more

We've stayed in this charming hotel twice now, and like it a lot, though it does have some drawbacks. The chief of these is that there is no air conditioning, which was a problem on one night of this year's 3-night stay (we lucked out on the weather last summer). The street-side rooms are certainly better in this regard, as... more

We were coming down from Portland for the weekend to see some plays at the Shakespeare Festival. In the past we've stayed at a Medford motel but decided to see if there was anything closer in. We were surprised to find this gem right downtown for the same price as a characterless motel out by the freeway. Of course, the... more

I came on Christmas, en route to Vancouver, travelling by myself. I'm not too sentimental, but I didn't want to stay in a motel on Christmas, and this was just perfect, like staying at my grandmother's house. There was a big decorated tree in the sitting room, along with overstuffed chairs and books and magazines to make it feel like... more

When I visit Ashland I like the Columbia for its location. Call me old fashioned, but I even ask for my favorite room (#5) each time I make a reservation. I have taste, what can I say? Room five suits me perfectly and I find it very elegant. The room sleeps up to four, but three is more comfortable. There... more

I've stayed at the columbia several times when visiting Ashland. I love the location and the reasonable rates -- I mention the rates because Ashland hotels have become quite expensive in recent years. The fact that the hotel has stairs to enter the building and does not offer a private bathroom in every room keeps the rates lower than the... more

Ownership of this hotel and the Palm Court are the same. They are each quite unique in their own ways and we generally like them both, but for different reasons. Their owners need to understand however that failure to maintain and update their properties in this day and age of instantly accessible reviews like Trip Advisor will quickly cost them... more
