We stayed with our two children. I wanted a place downtown, so we could visit Lithia park in the morning. I don't like chain hotels and was happy to be able to stay in such a charming place for the same price as a best western. Very comfortable beds, excellent staff, clean, thick towels, like at home. My son loved... More

The Columbia Hotel is a stone's throw from downtown Ashland theaters and restaurants, and is comfortable and fun - not your usual American hotel. It's old, but well-kept with a lot of charm and comfort. Think chenille bedspreads, locally made soap, fresh flowers and personal sink in each room. We had a shared bath down the hall which was fine... More

This hotel is a gem in downtown Ashland. The rooms are large and clean. The staff is very friendly. I would suggest getting a room with a bath, but even the shared baths were handy, clean and seemed to be available. The lobby is cozy. And we enjoyed the free Wi-Fi.

I love this old hotel! Excellent value. Comfortable mattresses. Perfect size rooms - some are large, some smaller, some ensuite, some are shared bathrooms. Quiet, even when I have had a room overlooking the street. Every visit there I have enjoyed the large-enough-but-homey lobby - especially wonderful in winter. the antiquity The location could not be better. Let's see -... More

In late October 2014, I spent 2 nights at the Columbia Hotel (double bed/courtyard with private bath), and enjoyed 2 plays at the OSF and a backstage tour! The last time I stayed at the Columbia was in college many years ago. At that time I got the European experience in the way of a shared bathroom, which wasn't bad... More

When travelling in Europe we love that every hotel at all price points have great mattresses and the Columbia, which describes itself as a European style hotel lives up to the promise. From its sumptuous rooms and fresh bouquets to the aforementioned comfy mattresses, our ensuite was a cozy home away from home in Ashland. Living room style lobby where... More

If I'd reviewed the Columbia Hotel in the 90s I might have said it was extremely well-situated just a couple of blocks from the theaters. Period. That part hasn't changed, but the hotel itself certainly has! In 2014 it's also beautiful! Acres of rich green carpet, a comfortable lobby/sitting room beautiful antiques, nicely appointed bedrooms with comfortable beds and nice... More

If I were more attentive, I would be able to give the name of the young woman tending the desk when I arrived the evening of Friday, September 19. In spite of my crankiness, she was cheerful, sympathetic, and helpful. My crankiness was nurtured by 10 hours of driving and was set in motion when, on entering the hotel, I... More

Old but renovated hotel right in the middle of downtown close to theater. Rooms comfy and well appointed and very nice common sitting room. This is not a hotel for someone who wants all modern and personalized amenities. Not all rooms have private bath or a shower, but they are just a few steps down the hall. Our room was... More

We stayed here for one night in August when we were in Ashland for the Shakespeare Festival. It's a great location right off the main drag in town and within walking distance to the outdoor theater, restaurants, and cute boutique shops. We didn't use our car at all during our stay there, which was ideal for us. We booked a... More
