We enjoyed our stay at the Columbia Hotel and in Ashland. This hotel is very close to all the theatres. The room was very comfortable, clean and pleasantly decorated. The hotel has a great character. I love the old phone booth in the lobby.

This is our third stay at the Columbia Hotel. Managed to find parking in the back lot, so we were able to forget the car for the 3 nights we were there. So conveniently located to restaurants and shops, and of course the Shakespeare Festival. Very friendly and helpful personnel. Be advised that there are steep stairs leading from the... More

First time in Ashland and found this hotel online. Loved the idea of staying in an old hotel with a history instead of the cookie cutter ones. Thought the stairs made for a dramatic entrance and loved the lobby area. The clerk who checked us in was very friendly (forgot his name sorry!!) Had no issues with the shared bathroom... More

I'm going with 5 to help to offset lower ratings from the fussbudgets who should have stayed at the Ashland Springs, or even the sister property, The Palm. The Columbia is a wonderfully welcome step back 100 years to the way hotels used to be. If you can't handle shared bathrooms (and at my last count, there are 3 showers,... More

The Columbia has been around long enough in Ashland that multiple generations now think of it as their 'home' for the Shakespeare Festival. We love the European-style small rooms and shared bathrooms, classy but low-key decor and ambiance, and outstanding location. Stay here if you want to park your car and spend your vacation WALKING around Ashland. No need to... More

This hotel is centrally located - an easy walk to the theaters, restaurants, and shops. The rooms are clean and well cared for. We had a room with shared bath. There was never any difficulty in sharing the bathroom and it was always clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They offer coffee and tea in the lobby where... More

Have stayed there a dozen times because of its closeness to the Shakespeare Festival theaters. This was the first time during a heat wave. Found out the hotel front desk will store my Kombucha purchased at the Ashland Co-op in the hotel refrigerator, yes! Each room is uniquely furnished, the beds are comfy, and they iron the linens before making... More

Just like staying at Grandma's! What a work week score this little gem was! Very historic hotel with unique authentic details in each room. My room faced the street but was still quiet and actually quite festive as it was during the Holiday Season. My bathroom had a claw foot bathtub in it which was a rare treat! Concierge was... More

Hello Stephanie, Thank you for taking the time to review the Columbia Hotel! We're so glad we were able to provide you with a "home base" during your business travels in Ashland. This hotel is in a great location such that you never need touch your car during your stay. Everything is very close walking distance. I was a bit concerned about the shared bathroom situation - no problem. The place is immaculate! Even the little louvers in the air conditioner were without dust or grime. The beds are very comfortable and... More

We loved this hotel, and the town of Ashland! Hotel is right in the center of town, so you can walk to everything. Parking is scarce, but luckily there was a spot for us behind the hotel. I love that it feels like you're a guest in someone's home, instead of an impersonal hotel. To call our room a "courtyard"... More

Thank you for your review of the Columbia Hotel! We're glad you were able to take full advantage of our ideal location right in the center of downtown. You're correct, our parking lot has limited parking and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. However, I always recommend to guests that they momentarily double-park in our back lot, even if... More
