I with my family stayed 2 nights, in a family room, in this hotel last march 2015 and what can I say, it is really a value for money. the family room was in the 5th floor with no elevator. I just had a slight complain about their breakfast. It took them about 45 minutes for my pancake to be... More

I stayed two nights at this guesthouse, thankful that I was assigned to a quiet back room on the fifth floor, despite the fact that there was no elevator. The staff was friendly and efficient. My room was smallish, but certainly adquate with a single bed, flatscreen TV, and airconditioning. Breakfast, which was included in the room price, was meager... More

The hotel is located in Malate, the old town of Manila. We have stayed 2 nights there. Although the hotel is very nice, tidy and the staff is extremely friendly, please let me emphasise two cons for this hotel: - There is no elevator in the hotel. We had a room on the 5th floor. Our baggage was brought up... More

Makabata guest house is the kind of place you stay if you want great value for money, lovely staff, clean facilities, yummy food and to stay somewhere that you know is truly helping the local people. As a training annex to the wonderful Bahay Tuluyan NGO that works so hard to protect local at risk kids, you know that the... More

Makabata is lovely guesthouse in the Malate area with easy access to good restaurants and other Manila attractions. Very clean premises with wonderful staff in a friendly neighbourhood. The Guesthouse is operated by NGO Bahay Tuluyan. It helps train local youth for jobs in the hospitality industry. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The homemade pizzas are delicious.

We stayed 6 nights at the Makabata Guesthouse, it is a wonderful social enterprise that provides great training opportunities for young disadvantaged youth. Our airport pickup way great, check-in efficient and our bags carried to our 5th floor accommodation, breakfast has a good selection, sometimes a little slow but delicious. The accommodation was spacious and very clean. We had a... More

Staff were friendly and accomodating, location was great (walking distance to Manila Bay/Rizal Park/Intramuros), breakfast was tasty, room was simple but clean and comfortable. Fairly noisy but to be expected with a central city location.

Makabata is a cheap and cheerful accommodation option, and it's great to be supporting a good cause. We really liked the fact that it is in a proper neighborhood (albeit a fairly poor one) whereas many of the other budget options are surrounded by nightclubs and girly bars. There are plenty of bars, restaurants and shops within walking distance and... More

A great spot to stay to get a taste of a bustling neighbourhood in Manila. Close to transport, cultural and historical attractions, universities, markets, malls and Manila Bay, this clean, secure, affordable, simple but well-run social enterprise supporting children has all the intrepid traveller could want. Room was spotless and surprisingly quiet given the busy location (we were on the... More
