Central location and polite staff but noisy, no hot water and no drinking water in room. Dodgy aircon and run down room. Overpriced and underwhelmed. Not recommended. Choose somewhere else nearby, there are lots of better places than this.

Budget friendly yet worth every bucks you paid. Staffs are accommodating. Hotel gives a nostalgic aura for me. Breakfast they provide is from the coffee house outside the hotel which is good. Overall, this is a good place to stay.

We stayed overnight. Hot / Cold Shower was good. Location is good (city center)Near restaurants and malls. Robinsons mall was just a few minutes walk away.. Staff are accomodating. The place was a bit old. We stayed in a room near the stairs we could hear people heading up.

Hello! Thank you for having made Malate Pensionne your home away from home. Our building is a "heritage" building built by US Standard Oil during the US Commonwealth era. Many of our regular returning guests come back exactly because they like that old world charm. Ermita Malate area is a historic district which gives it a distinctive unique character that... More

There are other better options to stay in Malate area. Rooms are obviously old and creepy. You can't sleep coz you can hear steps of people walking on the corridor and on the above floors. No free towel, toothbrush and toothpaste. No slippers provided. Standard rate for air conditioned rooms are quiet expensive compared to other hotels in the area.

Hello! Thank you for expressing your concerns. I truly appreciate it. I regret that we weren't able to satisfy your expectations. One of my functions is to be aware of what other hotels and lodgings are doing in our area and around the globe. The amenities that you mentioned and were expecting, I, as a frequent traveler, would expect of... More

Though I would not recommend staying in Manila for long (2 days MAX) this is defiantly a good place to stay for young travellers that can't afford the luxury places. The bathrooms are newly renovated and the rooms are everything you need. The staff is also very friendly and helpful, and laundry service is great!!

We had a number of issues during our stay at Malate Pensionne, starting with actually getting there. While their website states that they offer airport transfers, this is only very loosely the truth. I emailed twice, once from the booking site I'd booked through, and once through their own website and received no answer. In the end we ended up... More

Hello! Thank you for giving us a report on your experience. I will personally look into as to why you didn't get a reply when you attempted to book our airport shuttle. In response to your comment about the taxi costing less than a private car, anywhere in the world, a taxi will cost less than a private car. There... More

The location was very convenient - surrounded by a variety of decent restaurants and some (questionable) bars. You could also walk to the intramural area and it was easy & cheap when cabbing around town. Our standard room was very small and had an oscillating fan attached to the ceiling, but you couldn't keep it pointed at you - making... More

I like houses with character and I read that this hotel used to be ancestral home and indeed the layout shows it. High ceiling, wooden floors, stairs and the rich mahogany colours. Basic but clean accommodation at reasonable rate all I need to rest to continue my journey the following day. Located at the heart of tourist area, I feel... More

An excellent budget place in Manila. We got our own double with ensuite bathroom. It was decent, simple, but a few small cockroaches. Other than that, the staff were super friendly (they even lent me money when I didn't have any small peso bills for the cab). There are a couple cheap bars close by as well and a free... More

Located in Malate area near the Malate Circle. Malate Pensionne has very basic facilities in the rooms. Some rooms has still an old box TV with cable box while other rooms has LCD TVs. Negative: - WIFI is only available on the ground floor. - Pillows are way too soft. - No douche spray in the bathrooom
