Red Carabao is not just a hostel, but a community. This is something that you immediately feel upon entering it. Located in a family building just next to the southern entrance of Manila's famous Chinese Cemetery, Red Carabao is designed to encourage a proper experience of Manila. Whether it's the self-administered walking tours that you can do with the help... More

Red Carabao is more than just a place to lay your head. They are now my new found family, ones whom we loved before we even knew! Isn't that God's Love? The hospitality from the heart not only made an initial impact. It made a lifetime impact to me whom they now call Momma Bonnie! Thank you Helena for showing... More

I've lived in Manila for more than 4 years and I never thought of myself as a tourist to my own city -- until I discovered Red Carabao and the folks who run it. They will take you to places not even locals know about -- from churches to cockfights, and everything else in between: they'll give you a genuine... More

Gracious hosts, awesome location, good fun. Loved my time here, would go back in a heartbeat! Also got some great travel advice on Philippine destinations, met a great group of people staying there. Very much like a family.

Red Carabao is a hidden gem of Manila! The rooms are spacious and clean and the common areas are nice and a great place to eat and hang out. It is very close to the Abad Santos LRT and a nice change from the chaos of the Malate/Ermita backpacker area. It is very close to the UST and the buses... More

Traveling in a city like Manila needs good local friends. Red Carabao is not only a place to stay but a place to meet people. Their rooftop is one of the best places to relax and share time with friends in Manila.

If you talk with someone about Manila, Philippines most people would say „don’t stay in Manila, there is nothing to see“ or “it´s the most crowded and dirty place ever”. Once your reach the door of the Red Carabao in Santa Cruz, Blumentritt you will realise that this is definitely not true. And you will experience that Mania is a... More

The Red Carabao Hostel feels more like going over to a friend's house (a super knowledgable, well-educated, and often witty/cheeky friend) than anything else. Aldrich has created a laid-back environment that seriously supports the backpacking community. If you want to have a relaxing day away from the busy city or decompress after traveling, you can hang out in the many... More

When a starry-eyed backpacker books a hostel, they imagine meeting fascinating strangers and hanging out with them, experiencing local culture first-hand, and making lifelong friends. Amazingly, Aldrich has created an incredible hostel that fosters this type of ideal travel experience. When we first arrived, Aldrich gave us his detailed map of things to do in the city and asked us... More

Now I've been to a lot of hostels but this one is by far the best I've ever staid at. I returned twice during my 2-month travels in the Philippines and staid here for 10 days instead of 2 the last time round. The minute you walk in you feel welcome and part of the community. You will be taken... More
