The staff were very friendly and the hostel overall was definitely worth the it. It was very cheap and in a prime location near the free bus and chinatown markets. The internet was hard to get signal in some parts of the hostel but overall it was fine in the main common areas. Everything was pretty clean, including the showers... More

I think it's hard to judge KL accommodation, because I suspect it has two sides; gorgeous resorts and expensive hotels OR cheap cramped hostels. Matahari Lodge is a cheap crammed hostel you can easily miss when you're walking down the street. In all the hostels I've stayed at it was one of the least pleasant, but in saying that there... More

Small cell-like rooms, but very clean and safe. They quite crank up the A/C so it gets a little chilly at night, but they provide a blanket. Location is perfect, just near this night market and at a train station. Also, the free pink tourist buses leave right at the doorstep. Staff was friendly and very knowledgeable, they recommended good... More

We stayed at Matahari Lodge 3 times during our travels in South-East Asia. This place has a really cool vibe. Cozy common lounge area with good sofas, television and 2 computers you`re allowed to use. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated. I would definitely recommend Matahari Lodge when it comes to sleeping quality: mattresses were EXCELLENT, pillows dito and... More

The location is perfect (next to the metro, in Chinatown and next to Little India). The breakfast is good and everything is clean. Our room was very spacious and comfy. We were in Kuala Lumpur just for a transfer and it was a excellent choice: easy access from the airport and the good location gives time to enjoy Chinatown and... More

Pros: LOCATION! Very near to 7-eleven (important to getting bottled water, etc), Chinatown, Central Market, and the metro/rail station. Couldn't have chosen a more perfectly situated guesthouse. Common eating area with microwave, refrigerator, toaster, utensils, etc. Breakfast is included (bread with/jam, peanut butter, or butter). Wifi works well and there are two desktop computers for use. Cons: The rooms are... More

Matahari Lodge is conveniently located across from the train and bus station in Chinatown. KL's Chinatown is pretty small and Little India is just 5-10 minutes away. Matahari Lodge is really close to the subway as well. The hostel is pretty cozy, there's a comfy living room with TV and a few computers you can use. There's an outdoor balcony... More

Matahari Lodge has become our choice of stay every time we come to KL. So far, twice only, but it will be more in the future since we are currently traveling in Asia for a year or two and KL is the hob for flights. The lodge has great location, right in China town where all the old town charms... More

It’s hard to find a place in KL that doesn’t have mainly bad reviews on tripadvisor or is superexpensive… To then find this hostal which is excellent and great value for money to boot is lovely! It doesn’t look it from the outside but the rooms here are actually modern and nicely decorated and have great matrasses and pillows! Their... More

The third or time I stayed here. After 1 year living in Australia I decided to spend 3 days in KL before flying to Sri Lanka. As the former times I enjoyed my stay here. The dorm room, showers and toilets are clean, they provide a towel and the wifi works but sometimes it needs to be reset. The wifi... More
