Lovely and friendly staff. Private rooms spacious and close to toilets. Showers are well maintained. Lovely common area and cooking facilities. Peaceful and quite. Heating throughout including extra heater in room. Close to train station. A great place to stay in the local area.

A great budget option. Nice staff who were eager to help you with issued. Only had night but clean rooms and nice common areas. Convinent location right next to a subway station with intersecting lines.

Some upgrade on the facilities are needed. The shower rooms and toilet at the ground floor are good but those upstairs need some upgrade. So do the private room. Staffs were nice and helpful. Good location, near shinsekai.

I traveled to Osaka by myself, it was the first time I ever traveled alone and I had no worries. But once I arrived to the country, my confidence vanished: the subway system was confusing, I was lost and I didn't know any Japanese besides "excuse me" and "I'm allergic to seafood." It took me a while to find the... More

I stayed here one night in order to catch an early flight to Kansai airport. The room was without an air conditioner, but it did have a fan, and it was about 2 1/2 tatami mats in size. It was comfortable and I kept the window open and fan on in September. I had no problems there. Picky, less-traveled, futon-disliking,... More

Overall: My title says it all. Traveled with my husband and my parents. Hotel Toyo has a fun, lively atmosphere and is suited for the younger crowd / budget travelers / backpackers. Value: Fair value for the price, and cheap for Japan. Stayed 10 nights in one of the Ground Floor rooms (Php1,600/night). Service: Front desk staff changed everyday, but... More

well priced, good value, good location. obviously you will need to take into consideration that you need to share the ablution facilities. the place was clean for a hostel. we encountered some late night loud conversations echoing in the hallway, but i mean its a hostel... there are some great retro style bars and restaurants nearby. it was nice to... Try to get a room on the first floor. The showers are great and the bathrooms are very clean. The atmosphere is great and I met a lot of nice people while staying in this hotel. I stayed in a twin room. It had A/C and a mini fridge. It wasn't much, but exactly what I was looking for. The... More

This place has a great atmosphere. The location is great, it's around the corner from the Dobutsuenmae station. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I no longer live in Japan but my friends and I would always stay here when we went to Osaka because it was the best place we found to stay on a budget. Perfect for... More

DO NOT BOOK WITHOUT AIR CONDITIONING IN SUMMER! Biggest mistake of my journey so far, sleepless for 2 nights then luckily I managed to upgrade to an AC room, the bathrooms are great but the bedrooms are very, very uncomfortable with sandbag lick pillows! However, the staff are very friendly and receptive but I felt the hostel was almost too... More
