I do not typically start in guesthouses, as I generally prefer for our five star hotels. However, my significant other wanted to experience a Japanese guest house on our trip to Osaka, and this is where we stayed. The neighborhood it is situated in is quite nice, and it is conveniently close to the subway. I cannot comment on how... More

I spent 3 nights at the Bonsai Guesthouse having travelled for 3 weeks in Japan. The place is so close to the Momodani JR Loop line station I could see the trains, which believe me is great in large cities such as Osaka. Just 5 stops down the line to Osaka Castle. The guesthouse was clean, very efficient and provided... More

I know I may have just gotten lucky, but the people I met at Bonsai made my whole trip AMAZING. The hostel is relatively basic and quite little, but it's actually perfect, as you can't avoid meeting people! I stayed in the 8 bed mixed dorm and it was good for a hostel. I also really enjoyed the bonsai garden... More

Despite the triple room being quite small for 3 cabin-sized luggage and very basic interior, there are a lot of other plus points staying in Bonsai Guesthouse. Oh yeah, and not to forget the communal toilets and bathroom. If you don't mind any of these, you'll like it here. Plus points... 1. Helpful staffs: Most of the staffs are fluent... More

Had the opportunity to stay here a couple of nights. The location is very good as it is right next to a supermarket and the Osaka loop line which is very convenient! The dorm rooms were pretty basic and quite uncomfortable. However the staff were excellent especially one of the girls who fashioned reading glasses. They were open, helpful, friendly... More

It was very pleasant experience with all bonsai hostel's staff! They are loving and kind. If you have a chance to meet Osaka, just stay there! They also have great , soft, comfy mattress! After a long, tiring, sight-seeing day, that's all you want!

Stayed a couple of nights in August 2011 2 years ago, I had no idea how to find a cheap accomodation in Japan so my japanese friend booked this for me. At the time, I paid price around EUR20, It was super clean (well it's Japan) and confortable, the living room is very fashionable and a good place to meet... More

I stayed at Japanese guest room (not dormitory) with my son for family trip. The location is very convenient from station and supermarket and Onsen (Hot springs) is nearby. Room facility is new, however there are some dusts such as hair of other guests in the room and It seems that cleaning condition is relatively not good. What I feel... More

When it comes to choosing accommodations, accessibility and affordability are my priorities. Bonsai Guesthouse in Osaka fulfills these requirements quite well. Aside from that, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. They speak relatively good English and are very helpful when we have any questions regarding the place or neighborhood. They even helped us arrange a trip to Hiroshima by... More

The staff was very friendly and spoke very good English! One even helped me heat up my dinner since I can't read Japanese! The 6 mixed dorm was typical, free lockers upstairs, and cubby shelves in your room for necessities. Overall a nice place, except the showers had a mildew smell to them. Everything else seemed clean, though.
