Honestly, I had a really good time staying here at Peace House Showa. The owner, Yumiko, is an incredibly friendly and kind woman and she visits the premises frequently. It seems that the staff changes quite frequently, but the manager while I was there, Kaza, really had it together. Overall I feel that the experience with the staff is a... More

Reading the reviews here...a general comment is that this is a hostel and you should be expecting some sort of communal living experience. Yes it is small and the spaces are shared, but you are also getting a tremendous value for a night in Japan and the night I stayed there I met a lot of interesting people with a... More

First at all, place is located in a terrible diatrict of Osaka, full of hobos, drunk people and very smelly. This is the wort thing in my opinion. Second, the hostel. The rooms are extremely small and dirty. They didn't give us any sheets and the cover of the mattresses were dirty. When I activated the air conditioner it started... More

The place was dirty in every way, the bathrooms had hair on everything and didn't look like they'd been cleaned in weeks, the bed linens were stained and looks very old, and the floors and walls were dirty and sometimes sticky. They provided us with no key for our private twin room. On our second night I was unpleasantly surprised... More

I read all of the bad reviews before coming to Peace house, and yes..it is a small space in the bedroom and shower BUT you are not visiting Osaka to spend all day in the bedroom and shower.. so it doesn't matter!! Peace house is very clean and well maintained, the staff are cleaning every morning! the hostel is very... More

So I shouldn't be so harsh - just honest. The moment I entered the room, I wanted to open the window or turn on the air condition but with 5 other people in the room that wasn't an option. The rooms are cramped with no space to move around, walkways were the size of carry on luggage. I know it... More

+ pretty good atmosphere Thats probably the only plus (and it always depends on who is staying of course). I arrived in the afternoon and haven't seen staff for at least an hour. Since the staff are not japanese, many questions couldn't be answered, but that's ok. The worst was the dirt. I stayed there because of the spring holidays,... More

I stayed for three nights in a dorm, the beds are comfortable but the rooms are cramped and the beds are quite close to each other but the bottom bunks do have curtains which was nice. The common area is really nice and is perfect for socializing with other travelers or the friendly and helpful staff. The kitchen and the... More

The staff of peace house was very helpfull. They helped us get a place in kyoto, and pointed us to sushi place. The hostel is a little hard to find, but so is everything in Japan for us europeans. It was nice to sit on a tatami mat and the whole building was traditionaly japanese with sliding doors and paper... More
