Built for the Nagano Winter Olympics the JAL is starting to feel its age. We overnighted so we could check out the amazing snow monkeys nearby (a must do and worth the hike). Rooms tiny. We've spent two weeks in Japan and the tiniest yet. Could barely turn around in the bathroom and the bed was hard work for two.

If you're looking for a central hotel & dont intend to spend much time in your room - this hotel fits the bill nicely. Staff are efficient & helpful (reception, housekeeping, restaurant) but lacking in warmth. Its a business/tour group kind of hotel & the rooms are tiny. Very cramped for 2 persons & you cant help but bump into... More

This was a stop over on our trip through to Yuyado Sekiya. After an extreme drive through the heavy snow, a 12 hour drive from Tokyo... We arrived in Nagano. Finding this hotel is very easy, parking is easy however take your bags out while the car is at the front, otherwise you need to carry them around through the... More

We stayed in this Hotel for three nights. We chose it based on good feedback, a good online-price and its location. It's about a 10min walk away from the train station, which makes this Hotel pretty conveniently located. Around a mile away you can reach the Zenko-ji. The Hotel is at a main street, but the town was (in summer)... More

Stayed here 1 night. Helpful staff and good service. Location is great; within walking distance from the biggest wooden temple in Japan. We had a room on the corner almost top floor, so the view was great! Almost the same as when you have breakfast on the top floor. Also easy to park your car at this hotel. Overall; good... More

My husband and I spent five days at this hotel and have no complaints at all. Hotel staff speak good English and give excellent service, check in/out was quick and easy, room as fairly large and immaculate and toiletries were good quality. The view of the mountains was nice. This hotel is located in a convenient position, however, it is... More

This hotel is showing its age some. I can’t remember the last time I had a physical key to open my hotel room with. The room is good size though and nicely done. The bathroom looks like a prefab. It gets the job done, but won’t win a beauty contest. They do need to deep clean the carpet in the... More

Not bad for Y10,000 for 2, for Japan a big room and decent sized bathroom. Nice big window with a nice view. Big beds and reasonably soft for Japan, with good pillows (that is not the norm in Japan). Hard to fault for the price but Sheraton Hiroshima for $15 more set the bar very high indeed. Taxi from train... More

No negative claims against this hotel. Ok if you stay one or two nights for business. The location is central, but not in front of the station. Take a taxi if you have luggage, otherwise you can easily walk. The double-rooms-single-use were clean (a bit shabby) and spacious for Japanese average. The staff however is a bit peculiar. The breakfast... More

3 star hotel which has seen better days, about a 10 minute easy walk from station on way to the must see Zenkoji temple, lots of restaurants close by. Staff were really friendly but spoke very limited English so hard to be understood. Room not bad but we had paid for an upgrade (which I would recommend, wouldn't have liked... More
