The hotel has direct access from the station and a very helpful Police officer kindly took us all the way. Very helpful staff and some with good English. Very clean and pleasant rooms. We took a trip to the Monkey Park (Snow Monkeys). Buy a combined bus and entrance ticket in the subway and save. Bus stand 23 And the... More

Nagano is a wonderfully hospitable town and this is true of this hotel. The reception staff helped us organise buses to the Snow Monkeys and were well informed and courteous. The room was comfortable and warm and the restaurants well staffed and pleasant. The hotel has a lovely cake selection in the foyer!

Only stayed the one night before heading to Hakuba. The hotel is in a Very good location close to the Nagano train station. Great staff. Breakfast was included. Room was large and comfortable. An all round nice hotel and great for a stop over.

if you need to stop over by Nagano for one night, the Metropolitan is perfect. Clean and spacious, its location next door to the train station is perfect. Presently, the train station is under big renovations and is getting bigger with some new shopping which will be great for future stays. You can walk to the Temple or take a... More

Can not fault service, presentation and the location is clearly UNBEATABLE. I can only give it an average rating though because wow, that is the hardest bed I've ever slept on!!!! Other reviews mentioned it and I thought, how bad could it be? But I repeat... Wow. Completely fine for one night, and to be fair I slept no worries... More

Although the hotel is located right by the train station, it is not noisy at all. There are some construction works being done outside, but walkway is clearly marked. Beds and pillows in the room are a bit on the hard side, but for a short stay should be ok. Again English is pretty limited to the basics.

We stayed during a snow storm in January 2015 and due to the station renovations the path to the hotel was icey and slippery and the extreme cold came through into the restaurant on ground level. The reception staff were excellent and spoke good English. It is in a superb position being so close to the railway station and downtown... More

Right outside the train station, it couldn't be easier to find, but there are some problems: no wi- fi in rooms, a pushy attempt to up sell us on our room selection, and very pricy restaurants and bars. We paid a very decent price for our room but my wife found the beds harder than earlier ryokan futons on the... More

We traveled as a family of 5. Our 3 children shared one room while the parents in another. We stayed at this hotel solely because of the proximity to Nagano train station. The high quality of this hotel was a bonus point in our decision. Unfortunately, due to current renovation works, there was a lot of walking in the snow... More

The Metropolitan is almost part of the Nagano train station- you literally have a 100 metre walk. The train station is being renovated and there is a lot of work going on in the front - however the path is clearly signposted to hotel. The hotel has a number of restaurants although I would not recommend the Chinese one- severely... More
