We felt that for the price, this hotel gave good value for a Japanese hotel. We have paid double the price for not much more. The service was prompt - quickly came to adjust air conditioning when the room wad too hot. - the noise from the building at train station did not effect us -ice was available on each... More

The hotel is well maintained and perfectly located directly next the Nagano station. The latter pro is at the same time also a big con - its pretty noisy in the rooms. On top of that at least the room I had (535) is not very comfortable which might be related to the age of the furniture. For 1-2 nights... More

Was trying to book a deluxe twin to my friends, but was told that it was all sold out. With no option, booked and paid for the deluxe dabble. When arrived to the hotel, suddenly realized they do have a deluxe twin as well. When asked to change the room, they have demanded another 2,000 yen. Well, to start with,... More

Spent three days in Nagano. A good hotel in Nagano, good location, good attendant, good rooms. In front of hotel lies the ticket office and the bus stop for Togakushi. Advisable to buy a return ticket covering a single ticket for Zenkoji Temple.

I stayed one night at the standard double room on the station side. The hotel was a 2-minute walk from the station, however, I was not so concerned about the noise. The room of 30sqm was wide enough for two persons. The staff was very friendly and quick at work. The Zenkoji temple was approx. 30-minute walk, on the way... More

We chose the hotel for its proximity to the station and we're not disappointed. The rooms (deluxe double) were spacious (by Japanese standards) and comfortable. Breakfast, which was included in our room rate, had a very good selection and variety of food. Many of the local buses stooped outside the station, which was convenient. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby.... More

Stayed two nights here for my trip to Yamanouchi for the snow monkeys. I always preferred to stay in hotels close to the train station for convenience. It usually saved lots of time and made my trips easier. This JR chain hotel was just a few steps from the station of Nagano, old fashion but well maintained. The building has... More

I usually stay away from hotels right next to the train station as usually it's a seedy neighborhood or you get all the train noise, but I was pleasantly surprised when we stayed at the Metropolitan. We had an amazing view overlooking the train tracks, and you could see the bullet trains "shinkansen" on the platform, but only once did... More

I stayed for two nights and was on a higher floor, with an good and interesting view across the city to the mountains and also of the construction taking place at the railway station (which didn't cause any noise issues). The hotel is very convenient to the station and for buses, and also has a taxi stand near the entrance.... More

The Metropolitan Hotel in Nagano is for business only. I stayed there with my 11 year daughter and I’m sure she was the only one under 40 in the place. Pros: Great location Clean Good buffet breakfast Cable internet in room, but no Wi-Fi Cons: Japanese porn on the TV when I switched it on No Wi-Fi in room
