A really charming, cozy place to stay.It was easy to find -- about 15 minute walk from the train station. It is close to Zenkoji, which is really nice (2-3 minute walk). The neighbourhood is quiet. The hostel is family run; they are very friendly and helpful. They have free tea and coffee available. The lodgings are fairly traditional Japanese style --as close... More

Great location near to Zenkō-ji in a lovely building with a really comfy common area and comfortable bunks. The staff were a delight! Really helpful and so nice, this is why I love Japan so much, such beautiful people! For a backpackers hostel, i can't fault it. If only all hostel stays could be so good. It's a bit of... More

On arrival I was struck by the laid back, pleasant, pleasing atmosphere. The girls, and the guy, who run the place were straight away fountains of knowledge and advice. Super friendly. This is one of the best, relaxed hostels I have ever stayed in. Unfortunately my night was disturbed by chronic snoring once more so I absconded to the downstairs... More

With great location and very clean, the hostel as such is quite ok: japanese style, small but with paperbox walls (so rather loud). However the key benefit is the lady who runs the business: exceptional. She goes an extra marathon to help you get organised. She explains everything you need to know, has maps etc available but in an extra... More

We arrived around 4pm, directions on website were very comprehensive, walk straight up road toward Temple for 1km, turn left at 7/11 then 1st turn right, it's about 100mtrs up that road on the left. There is a large communal area, like a sitting room, the bedroom was large with a kerosene heater & extra quilts. Shower area is cold,... More

We had such a nice time here. The ladies were so helpful and friendly when we were organising our short time in Nagano. The rooms were spacious and comfy, everything was clean, the whole place was extremely warm and breakfast was great. Couldn't recommend higher!

Really one of the warmest and most welcoming places in Japan! I arrived there when it was super cold and the girl at the reception turned on thw heater for me right away and offered me somw tea. The common place is very cozy and warm and great opportunity to meet other backpackers. It has well equipped kitchenette if you... More

I stayed here over a weekend with some friends and we were blown away! The location is great for getting around Nagano and easily accessed via bus or taxi. The house itself is very nice, felt more like a ryokan than a hostel. Everything was clean and tidy, had a cozy feel. But the best part was the owner, he... More

The staff was awesome! K-san and lady with short hair (not sure with her name) does speak fluent English. They are helpful and provide useful information for your trip in nagano. Please check out with them. * Walking from nagano station takes 30 mins. * Walking to zenkoji temple takes 5-10 mins only.

Perhaps our favourite place we've stayed at over the course of our long trip! Warm, atmospheric and cosy, this little guesthouse is everything you'd hope for from a backpackers crash pad. The location is great (not too sure where the review a few below is coming from) - 5 minutes to Zenkoji Temple (great for the morning ceremony) and a... More
