.. is what they say. I'm not sure but it certainly is a fine luxury boutique hotel. Small and intimate with friendly staff, sometimes English is an issue but nothing they won't solve with a smile. Our room and I believe all rooms don't have curtains - only sheds - which darken out the room, this makes it difficult to... More

This boutique hotel was intimate, spotlessly clean and contemporary. My daughter and I could not fault the hotel but for us the location was a little isolated. We did not understand Japanese and found it a difficult to find a restaurant in the immediate area that would cater to English speaking tourists. The hotel's restaurant was very nice however. Each... We stayed at the screen for 6 days. We where initially booked into one of the cheaper rooms but chose to pay extra for one of the bigger rooms. The room felt like a home away from home. Extremely comfortable. Staff where incredibly helpful and friendly. Nespresso machine and kettle with 2 pods every morning, 2 sachets of green tea... More

This is a fabulous, small boutique hotel with wonderful staff. We loved the location in a pleasant, quiet street just around the corner from the Imperial Palace Gardens, and 5-10 minutes walk to the major shopping areas of Kyoto. There are a few nice cafes and restaurants in the street, and a great yakitori bar. The hotel has 13 rooms,... More

One of the best hotels we have ever stayed in world wide. Only 12 rooms, each done by a different designer. Semi suites, luxurious quilts, jacuzzi bath, even Nespresso Cafe in the room. The young staff was delightful and very helpful. Location is excellent. Quiet neighborhood near the Imperial Palace Garden, but walking distance into town and to the subway... More

Great time, we stayed in a semi-suite which had all comforts and a beatifully painted bedroom. Staff is super friendly. We also enjoyed a pre-dinner drink on the roof top with a beatiful view on kyoto

The room was hugh for Japan and it was beautiful!! The entire hotel was chic and very glam! The staff was friendly and extremely helpful. Their English was not perfect, but we seemed to manage just fine. If there is a problem just ask for the manager, Takuyu Noguchi, he speaks English well and is always willing to help you... More

so glad we choose to stay here! very large, comfortable room in a small, stylish boutique hotel. a bit overly expensive because it was cherry blossom season, but i think that is true everywhere in kyoto in early april. great location - easy access to everything, but in a quiet neighborhood. loved using the hotel's bikes ($12/day) to explore the... First impressions last, so it's been said. Indeed I was quite intent on disliking this hotel because of a series of minor gripes, starting with the first quibble at check-in. My room wasn't ready when I (wife, child and two pieces of luggage in tow) arrived at the hotel, and we were - quite firmly - told that the check-in... More
