When you're in a city like Kyoto all you need is a place to sleep and the Keihan Hotel does just fine. For the price you can't beat the location next to Kyoto Station, and if you are hungry there are lots of dining options on-site and in the adjacent department store Avanti, and a 7-11 convenience store with ATM.... The rooms are small, which is normal for Japan. My wife, daughter and I all squeezed into one room with 3 twin beds. Two of the beds were extra firm, but the third felt like a board, so we used it to open our suitcases and my wife and I shared one twin bed. If not for the 3rd bed,... More

One thing going for this hotel is the proximity to the railway station, there's very little else! The foyer is an eyesore, with dingy pink carpet, and almost no sitting area. The rooms are tiny; our double room had an enormous king size bed, and no room to move around. There was no space to put two average sized cases,... More

I was travelling with my family of 3. Hotel is 5 mins walk from the Kyoto Station. Easy access to shopping centres and also eateries. Hotel room size is a bit small for travellers with many luggages though. Price is reasonable.

Really bad experience on our first day of stay itself. While checking in the receptionist did not ask us if we would like to have a non smoking room and we ended up in a smoking room with really strong smell. Being a first timer in Japan, we did not know that you need to specify this at the beginning... More

This hotel was a good introduction to us as foreign tourists to accustom ourselves to all things Japanese. Learning how to behave in the breakfast room for eexample (do as the Romans do!) No loud chatter, orderly queues (we love queues where we come from :-) and keeping your breakfast table neat. My mistake was to book a squeezy "Standard... More

it is like a 70s holiday inn. very clean, but the furniture and equipment is old. the bathroom is kind of a cruise ship module. the staff in the front desk is kind. the best asset of the hotel is that you are in front of the train station, and with this marvelous city, you only need the hotel just... For me the location was perfect as I flew into Osaka Itami airport and could get a Airport Limo bus (very easy) to the door of this hotel which is also at the Kyoto Station where JR and subway go from and all the bus's. For my first time visit, solo, that location aspect was very smooth for me. (Mind... More

A good hotel in a very good location. Just across from Kyoto railway station. The rooms are very good, the service good and the breakfast nothing more than average. If you stay here you ought to make it to the top floor, where you a very good view of the city. You can buy bus tickets at the reception and... More

Came to check in for our first night in Kyoto after travelling all day, we were told we didn't have a reservation. We had booked 4 nights which were all paid for, they couldn't find the booking and the staff could hardly speak English which made things harder. We had to pay for a room for the night until they...
