Hotel is conveniently located opposite to Kyoto station. Rooms are OK and service was attentive. As the hotel is currently undergoing renovation there was a bit of noise from the floor above us. Be aware though that most of the tourist attractions are not in central Kyoto (we wanted to rent a bike but from the hotel it is over... More

The hotel is located just opposite side to Kyoto station, connecting with shopping complex and coach station. Very convenience to go out anywhere. Kyoto is the most popular place to visit, therefore, this moderate rate hotel is always fully booked. Some guest complain about allowance of check-in & out time, but, considering the popularity, the 15:00 pm check-in and 10:00... More

Really poor hotel in every sense. I thought Japanese people were meant to be the friendliest in the world? They have been on every stop of our hotel the staff in this hotel are more like prison wardens then hotel receptionists Despite check in being at 2pm our rooms were not ready by the time we arrived at 2pm....appalling!! Pro: location; it's across the street from Kyoto station and the bus terminal, which makes it easy to get to and from major sites. Cons: too small for a triple room. We each had a suitcase and we had to push beds together to be able to open them; Wifi in the room rarely worked; the staff wasn't very helpful;... More

Room was clean and was good for the price. The location is awesome. Very convenient to go anywhere in Kyoto. Front desk customer service staff were excellent. Especially Mori. She was very helpful and friendly. The only issue we have is with a staff member (--) who wasn't very helpful at all. He didn't seem like he wanted to assist... More

Stayed here for 3 nights at the end of June. Rooms are very small and I have a bigger closet at home than the bathroom in this hotel. Hotel needs upgraded, carpets and furniture are all stained. However the hotel has a great location and is very good value for money. The staff although very helpful really struggle with their... More

My friends and I stayed here while in Kyoto because it was one of the cheapest options and advertised that it was just outside of the Kyoto Station. We were amazed to see how close it really was. If you go through the underground mall, you can come up to street level right in front of the hotel. So the... More

Across from the magnificent train station with its wonderful architecture, shops, light show, this could be a winner. But Internet was so sporadic, so unreliable thar hotel is unacceptable. There are many more in the area that it's really not necessary to put up with the frustrations and inconvenience re the Internet Breakfast is ok but we had far better... More

The Hotel Keihan Kyoto is one of a number of hotels that are located along the south side of the Kyoto Station. It is a typical business hotel in the sense that the rooms are very small by western standards. The rooms are ~3m wide (~9.5 ft) with a double bed against one wall and a one person bathroom. The... This is a pretty old hotel that its age is evident in its smell and look. However, their hospitality makes up for it. Their staff are really accommodating and their rooms are very clean. The location is also perfect because it's right across the train station and at the same building with the mall.

Staying in Southern Kyoto

Neighborhood Profile
Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens, temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers, picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the mountain's off-set paths aren't frequented by tourists, and the mountain's serenity can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Southern Kyoto is the place to enjoy being outside, and to pay your respects to the ancient architecture and gods of the land that are celebrated here.
