We stayed there for one week and were happy of having chosen this hotel. It is very quiet, clean, and very close to the main shopping area of Kyoto. Also it can be reached easily by public transportation (subway station is 2 minutes away). Cable and wifi worked well. Many restaurants in walking distance. Few qualms: Our room was indeed... More

First time in Kyoto, and we chose to stay in Mitsui. Unlike the usually small hotel rooms, Mitsui has a considerable bigger size. There's also a huge table where you can lay all your stuff out. It's very near a 7-11, and a small restaurant nearby open until 3am. Lots of bus stops around the area too, depending on where... More

This is the 10th time we visited Kyoto and we have stayed in various hotels from no star to five star. This hotel is recommendable for the location, price, food quality and spotless, clean room. The location is unbeatable with everything you need within 5 minute walk. Sanjo Dori, museums, train stations, supermarket, coffee shops are only just steps away;... More

Booked Moderate Single room with this hotel for this trip in Kyoto. Rather convenient location (personal preference etc), subway is relatively near, convenient store nearby and other restaurants and boutique shops scattered around the hotel. My previous other trips in Kyoto was with another hotel also in Sanjo area, and I really like to travel around Sanjo area then stroll... More

Spent a night here with my partner when we were visiting Kyoto. The hotel is located a couple of hundred meters from the metro station, Karasuma-oike, which is a big plus. The receptionists knew english well and they explained everything very thoroughly. Our room was small but more than enough for a night or two. It had everything you needed.... More

This is a lovely hotel at a very reasonable price. They even have traditional segregated hot baths within the hotel. The breakfast was delicious and very unusual in that there were many dishes that were of the Kyoto specialty, pickled vegetables. All great tasting and not like pickles elsewhere which can be sharply acidic. Very central location although to get... More

This hotel was very modern, clean and decently presented. Check in was quick and easy, staff were very polite and attentive and conversed in English. The room was a decent size, with tolietries and complimentary bottles of water. We arrive by taxi from Kyoto station, which cost around Y1400, but if coming by metro, get off at Karasumaoike station and... More

Stayed here about a month ago for about 6 nights. Great value and perfect central location! It's about a 10 minute taxi ride from Kyoto Station in the central downtown area of Kyoto, on a side street. Very close to shops, cafes, restaurants, and the metro. The room was great too (as all our hotels were!); we were 3 adults... More

This hotel situation is just perfect near Karasuma metro station only 1 minute to walk. Friendly staff help a lot of me to go different places in Kyoto. The Nijo castle is a only 15min to walk. Room was very clean and quiet. Breakfast is absolutely great and is enouhgh for half day walking. Near by hotel is also very... More

My mum and I spent 5 nights at this property. The advantage of this hotel is the proximity to the subway station. Also, there is a Starbucks almost at the doorstep of this hotel and there are several restaurants within walking distance of this hotel. The room was quite a comfortable size (compared to the shoe-box sized room we had... More

Staying in City Center

Neighborhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
