The hotel features a little garden adjacent to the lobby and has a restaurant which offers a quite reasonable Western and Asian style breakfast buffet with fresh coffee. Rooms are small but come with all the necessary amenities. Disappointing there's no TV other than Japanese stations though. Bed was good as was the shower and the wi-fi worked well. The... More

We stayed here two nights. The rooms were very nice and clean. The staff was pleasant, although they were not able to help us make reservations for the maiko performances going on in the city. The location was great, very easy access to the subways. The hot bath on the second floor was great and looked out on a garden.... More

Mostly Japanese breakfast with some western fare. Coffee machine does dispense cappuccino. Very walkable area and plenty of cabs for longer distances. There is a hot bath on the second floor which seems to be little used. I usually had it all to myself. Kyoto is a beautiful city.

My girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel after spending a night a Shiraume. For those of you not in the know, go take a look at the reviews for Shiraume. Go on, I'll wait. So having spent a night at what is literally the perfect ryokan/hotel/whathaveyou, the bar was set very high. It should have been very easy to... More

The Mitsui garden hotel is well located - a few minutes walk to a metro stop, plenty of places to eat nearby and a 10 minutes walk to Kyoto's big department stores. The hotel was clean and room a good size, with the normal toothbrushes, shampoo etc provided, though we would have appreciated complimentary water and a safe in the... More

My mother and I had a pleasant stay at this hotel. The room we booked was extremely small (compared to other Japanese hotel rooms I've stayed in), but clean and quite well laid out. We had a few challenges with the humidifier / fan unit but we can't complain about not being able to read the instructions properly :). Location... More

Kyoto is quite an easy city to navigate your way around from the moment you arrive. The town centre is a grid system but be aware that finding buildings can still be a challenge. I actually walked past this hotel as it was slightly set back up a side street and I needed to ask someone where it was. The... More

Any lover of traditional Japanese culture would not miss to visit Kyoto. We decided to stay at Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Sanjo. The quality of rooms is high standard and would not disappoint the customers. We grabbed the opportunity to try their public bath which offered a tranquil view of the landscape. The hotel boasts easy access to restaurants and... More
