Whenever you book a hotel check your mode of transportation there and out. Unfortunately I bought a day pass bus ticket 500 yen at the info center that covers more of Kyoto than the subway but unfortunately bad for this hotel. All the bus routes from Kyoto station on Karasuma dori, the main drag, up towards the hotel diverges at... More

This is a good clean hotel, that is less than a 5 minute walk to the subway station. Being from Canada, it seemed like it was down alley, but it turned out to be a busy, but narrow street, that has many restaurants, and a few shops on it. The room was clean, and a bit on the small size.... More

Room - It is a bit small. Once you place a luggage in the room, it seems like not much space left in the room. Hygiene level - Top notch. The staff cleans the room at very high standard. Very impressive. WiFi - we stayed connected every where we go in the hotel. Service: Very friendly and helpful in general.... More

The Mitsui Garden Hotel in Kyoto is in a great location - less than 15 minutes walking from Shijo Castle, and about 10 minutes from the nearest metro station. The hotel is very clean and the service provided is top-notch. The breakfast buffet provided great variety and quality, while the room was very comfortable.

My jap. friend found this hotel with shinkansen promo. for 20.000 yen which was so cheap, so i had no expectations. But it's such a nice hotel! The room was great, comfortable, and it had everything, and it has a great bath with view to a small garden. It's not traditional but it is very comfortable :) I liked it... More

As I say, rooms a bit small but all very nicely appointed and with helpful staff. Bonus is that they have a fake onsen (in the sense it's not natural springs but heated water feeding into a sort of super jacuzzi). But very welcome in winter, and has a pleasant view onto a little dry garden. Good restaurants nearby, and... More

This hotel is a great option for Kyoto with reasonably priced rooms a nice, but small onsen. It was conveniently located for subway lines and the staff was very helpful with trying to help provide advice and look for information for us. Not all spoke English (or spoke it well), so there were a few things that were harder to... More

We stayed at Mistui Gardens Sanjo for four nights while in Kyoto recently and on the whole found the establishment very pleasant, the staff very professional and agreeable and the location very good for getting around. It's a bit of a hike from the train station, we got a cab, but there is a subway station nearby so if you... More

Location is good for sightseeing and restaurants, the big market etc. The staff at reception were very helpful and spoke good English. The public bath is excellent. Quite a few people have mentioned the rooms - they are small and not quite up to Travelodge standard.

The price for the double room is a bit too high from my point of view as not even breakfast was included. For Japanese standards the rooms are quite big. Everything was clean. The rooms reminded me of the 8os or 90s though. I did not had breakfast at the hotel but there are plenty of cafés in that area.... More
