This hotel is a great option for Kyoto with reasonably priced rooms a nice, but small onsen. It was conveniently located for subway lines and the staff was very helpful with trying to help provide advice and look for information for us. Not all spoke English (or spoke it well), so there were a few things that were harder to... More

We stayed at Mistui Gardens Sanjo for four nights while in Kyoto recently and on the whole found the establishment very pleasant, the staff very professional and agreeable and the location very good for getting around. It's a bit of a hike from the train station, we got a cab, but there is a subway station nearby so if you... More

Location is good for sightseeing and restaurants, the big market etc. The staff at reception were very helpful and spoke good English. The public bath is excellent. Quite a few people have mentioned the rooms - they are small and not quite up to Travelodge standard.

The price for the double room is a bit too high from my point of view as not even breakfast was included. For Japanese standards the rooms are quite big. Everything was clean. The rooms reminded me of the 8os or 90s though. I did not had breakfast at the hotel but there are plenty of cafés in that area.... More

We spent three nights in this hotel as a family of four. Check in was quick and efficient and our suitcases were waiting for us as we had them sent from Tokyo whilst we stayed in Hakone. The reception staff were friendly and helpful and even booked us a table at the Ninja Cafe on request. We ate in a... More

I spent 3 nights in Mitsui Garden Sanjo and enjoyed the hotel. We stayed in a corner room so my biggest complain was lack of internet coverage in the room. So I had to go to lobby every time I need to use internet. Second discontent was lack of safe in the room. I expect to have safe in a... More

This is a very nice hotel. Very clean and central. This hotel you cannot reach by walking from the Kyoto station. You will need to take the metro to the Karasumoike station which is like 2 stops from Kyoto. From there it is a short walk to the hotel. Right near the hotel is a Starbuck's if that is important... We booked our room through an online booking agency and failed to read the small print that we had been allocated a smoking room. Coming from England where all accommodation facilities are non-smoking we wrongly assumed this would also be the case on Japan! Upon arrival at the hotel we checked in to our 'smoking' room and the stale cigarette... More

We were visiting Kyoto with our son who is working in South Korea and joined us for a week in Japan. We needed somewhere in a good location and with a triple room and used TA to help us locate this hotel. The hotel is excellent quality - good standard of rooms / beds / public areas / reception, There... More

We stayed at the Hotel in the first week of October, we had to catch a taxi from Kyoto station, but the subway was also an option. The staff were excellent and spoke reasonable English. The room we had was ok although the bed was up against the wall making it difficult to get in and out of bed. Being... More
