This place offers a good location in Kyoto and the rooms and modern, clean and functional. Slightly larger than expected. Staff are very accommodating. We stayed during the Gion Matsuri and it was located right on the door step of all the action. The beer vending machine was great! Good value all round. Comfy beds and a good bathroom.

This a a clean and friendly hotel for budget oriented travelers. Rooms are very small, bathrooms, smaller. Don't even try the pajamas on the bed - no chance of fitting westerners. Close to many of Kyoto's attractions by bus or subway, and close to eating places.

The hotel is just minutes away from the metro station and right outside the hotel, there are some buses which you can take if you can't bear to walk 20 minutes to Shijo-dori/Gion.The greatest convenience for us was that there are a supermarket and a convenience 24/7 store very near the hotel. The Nishiki market is also just a short walk... More

Like it was mentioned by other reviewers, the hotel is located near to the subway. You just need to come out of exit 6, turn right and you should see the hotel diagonally away from the Starbucks. The service staff at the reception could speak very good English and were very polite. We had a family room since there were... More

It's basically in the central of the city, just a few minutes away from the underground station, and a 10-minute walk from Shijo, where the shopping area and tourist spots lie. The room was clean but I didn't sleep very well because the pillows were low and a bit hard. I got a serious neckache after a two-night stay. The... More

First of all, location was awesome. As soon as you exit the south door of the subway station, hotel was steps away, maybe 2 minutes walk. There was a Starbucks next to it, and a nice restaurant. It is not directly on the main street, faces the side street but not too far. I was greeted with respect by the... More

Great location in central Kyoto, with just 5-10 minutes walking distance to the shopping streets and more busy areas. A metro station just 2-3 minutes away by walk, making it easy to get around to the sightseeing areas outside the city. Small, but clean and efficient rooms. We did not try the breakfast (which is not included), but there are... More

We highly recommend Mitsui Garden Sanyo: - great service incl finding a letter with lockers at Himeiji Station at night in my room after having inquired if I could store my luggage there - excellent breakfast selection catering both to Western and Japanese taste (not a very wide selection, but just the right one) - very good location with walking... Although we hadn’t chosen it specifically for it’s location the Mitsui Garden Hotel (Sanjo) was almost perfectly located for exploring Kyoto. It’s located at the metro station that serves both of the Kyoto metro lines, and very close to stops for all the main bus routes that will take you to the principal sights of interest in Kyoto. The Nijo... More

We stayed at this Mitsui, which actually pened its doors the day we arrived! The lobby was covered with orchids from well wishers. The art in each of the 5 floors is just beautiful. The rooms are perfect and extremely clean. The front desk people couldn't have been more gracious. Attached, but not belonging to it, is the also new... More
