Near to bus stops and subway, so it's very convenient. Their breakfast spread is quite good, I especially like the pastries, egg, and their miso, a good way to start your day. If you're planning to explore the temples in higashiyama or gion, staying here is very convenient because it's very near to them. Their owner was very welcoming and... More

My friend and I stayed here on our first visit to Kyoto. The friendly staff welcomed us warmly and even invited us to join their dinner party for that evening - it sounds like that is a regular Friday night activity at the guest house! Our room was very comfortable and so were the common areas. Hot showers and free... More

This is what we visit Japan for. The staff was extremely nice, going out of his way to help with anything. The owner drove us in the evening to his onsen, then the next day he threw a party with free beer and Japanese food. We stayed in the apartment next to the hostel which was a full flat equipped... We had a whole room (with 4 bunk beds). Advantages: Absolutely clean, really new spacious apartment. Kitchen with high-speed(!) cooker and utensils. Air-conditioning. Wonderful bathroom with shampoo/bathgel, 'clever' toilet. Automatically switching-on/off light. Balcony. Very nice breakfast: coffee, yohgurts, different fruits, variety of sweet bread. Amazing, very helpful english-speaking staff. Location near the major best temples: 3-5 min walk to the... More

We did not stay at the little guesthouse but had a very pleasant experience none the less. We left our accommodation looking for an early breakfast - have become fond of the buttered toast and egg here in Japan - but all the local cafes were still closed at 7:30am. Walked past the Gajyun and the spoke to the guy... More

Within walking distance of Gion, Nishiki Market, Kyoto zoo, and many temples / shrines. The apartment has everything you need ... Full functional kitchen, shower and separate bath, two sets of bunk beds, daily breakfast. Breakfast consisted of fruit, bread, jams, coffee, tea. On some days there was also steamed rice and miso soup...delicious! On Sundays, the owner prepares a... More

Gayjun is a very nice place to stay in Kyoto, I would recommend it to anyone. The guesthouse is brand new so everything looks real good. Ichiro-san is a very nice, happy guy, who also serves a good, varied breakfast which is included! Furthermore, the guesthouse has a great location, in walking distance of subway station, several shrines, shopping district... More
