From the moment we arrived to the minute we departed, the staff got out of their way to make our stay comfortable and special. We will no doubt return in our next visit to the city. It is also extremely convenient for exploring the midtown and northwest areas of the city.

On 1st day arrived my daughter had fever. Worst case it was Saturday night. The medicines we bring was useless. I imagined we will spend days in Kyoto in the hotel. Coz she normally took at least 3 days to recover. I asked the male receptionist at the counter for any clinic still open nearby. But what he did was... More

Lovely boutique hotel with just 7 rooms! We booked very early via a Travel Agent and had the Premium 5th floor room with elevator access. Excellent amenities. 2 x 4ft beds. Western style breakfast served in our room daily. It took an extra day to get what's we wanted but all in all a great spot. Very convenient and lots... More

Stayed here for 4 nights with my wife. Room had all of the amenities. Staff were always eager to please (almost too eager if that's possible). Loved the small little street it was on. Location was good but not central. About a 5 or so minute walk from the nearest station (Karasuma Oike) which is only a few stops from... More

Staying in hotels in Japan is a bit of a hit and miss story for us. We usually stay in the 100-150 dollars range which in general means settling for a Japanese (business) hotel chain or an independent property like Villa Aneyakoji. We were very happy with our choice this time. The room was relatively large, two separate beds (even... More

Spacious stylish rooms, all mod cons. Excellent helpful English speaking staff. Lovely little bar in lobby. Good western breakfasts. Quiet street. Slept well. Overall great value and very happy staying here for 5 nights as we visited Kyoto , which is a truly wonderful city. Tip: public transport is average , so if you hire a guide ( recommended )... More

This is a wonderful place to stay in Kyoto. It is small, quiet and very stylish. The beds are comfortable and everything is very clean. We stayed two nights and loved this hotel. The staff were welcoming and helpful. On our last day they ordered a taxi for us to take us to our next address. We were waiting for... More

This small hotel is very well located in a quiet neighbourhood but reasonably close to the sights and the subway station. It is 3 km from the Kyoto JR railway station but, if needed, you can ask the hotel receptionist to book you a taxi in advance to pick you up (abt 1000-1200 yens that is less than 10 euros)... More

The rooms are spacious, albeit there are only seven of them in this tiny boutique hotel. Very comfortable bed, excellent sheets and toiletries, good sound and light isolation on the windows. The location is perfect - easy to go to Gion and the Golden Pavillion with one bus #12; very close to subway station and to the Imperial Palace. The... More

Great little stylish "boutique" hotel in an excellent part of Kyoto. Wonderful, helpful staff who spoke good English. Excellent, clean rooms, tastefully decorated. The hotel is very well located, with lots of fantastic restaurants in a 1km radius. Extremely well priced. Would thoroughly recommend, without hesitation.

Staying in City Center

Neighborhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
