Did a little research before booking this hotel, it was close to the station which provided a hassle free travel. The room was clean and staff are friendly. They took the liberty of bringing my luggage to my room because I went out and explored the city. They were kind enough to give me directions as to where I can... More

The location of this hotel is very good, it is walking distance to the subway station and walking distance to shopping areas and many restaurants. The room is clean, not very big. Breakfast is just OK, very small selection of western options. Decoration in the common areas tries to look english. Breakfast area is not cozy or inviting. It is... More

The staff were all professional in rendering their service. The rooms were clean and well -maintained though a little small if you have big luggages. The water temperature while taking a shower goes hot and cold without warning. Their air conditioning is so hard to figure out so we don't know if it was functioning well or just has the... More

This hotel has a great location being a short stroll to the subway and shops/restaurants nearby. The rooms are large, clean and tidy, with staff polite and helpful (they spoke fluent English). Breakfast at the hotel is a nicely laid out buffet with a selection of Japanese and Western foods, though kids might find few things to their fancy. The... More

I lost my camera on the way to a visiting temple & got back to hotel double check as I thought if it's possible to leave it in the room. I sought the staff in lobby help where is nearest policy station for reporting the lost. She is really good to write down the case in Japanese as she believe... More

I was visiting Kyoto for the first time and a guidance to select a hotel near Karasumaoike. And this was really good decision. Short distance to every place: subway, bus stop, major tourist places and the market streets. Personnel (lot of them) was very helpful all the time and in case some of them didn't speak English they still managed... More

Pretty decent hotel in the middle of what seems like the business district of Kyoto. It's pretty close to the subway (exit 5 and 6) but we got a little lost. I wish hotels would give out instructions on how to get to the hotel from what exit. Stations can be big and going out the wrong exit can take... More

The Monterey in Kyoto is a great place to stay. Can I say that loudly enough? No, it's not your super service hotel, and it's not super luxe BUT it is mega comfy, lovely, sparkling clean and up to date with good everything and one of the best locations you could ever have in Kyoto. From here, you and your... More

We stayed here for 2 nights and it could not be more wonderful. The double room was spacious and elegant. The location is perfect. The staff spoke excellent English and recommended one of the best kushiyaki places we have had in Japan. The spa on the roof top is luxurious and pampering, with a semi-open air section that gives a... More
