Our stay at the Juno really wasa highlight of our brief trip to Japan. The clear and easy to follow directions from the bus stop, the authentic Japanese style rooms and hearty breakfasts were topped only by the friendly and welcoming hosts- Ian and Sybilla. They shared their knowledge and experience of Kyoto with us which really helped to immerse us... more

Simply put: excellent. Ian and Sybilla, the couple who own and operate Juno (named after their daughter) are delightful hosts. The rooms are clean, Japanese-style rooms of ample size for even two people. They had hangers, Japanese wooden shelves, a small floor-table, a very effective AC unit, and several lamps and an overhead light. Tasty, ample, and creatively prepared breakfast... more

This is a very fairly priced B&B which is very close to being a Ryokan. The couple who own the place are very laid back and friendly, they put up with me for 2 weeks anyway!!!! The owner is a Canadian man who has a vast knowledge on Japan and Kyoto, which is a great help, since he is great... more

The most important thing to know about this B&B is that there are no real walls. It is located in an old merchant house, which sounds quaint and atmospheric, but in reality means two awful things. One: there is only a piece of nailed-up plywood separating you and your neighbors, and you will literally hear every breath, every snore...and more.... more

This was called Casa Carinho when we stayed there, and we have stayed during both of our visits to Kyoto. The host, Ian, is very friendly and helpful, and the place is well-located, 2 mins from main temples. We love this area of Kyoto, it is quiet, and the places around are lovely. Perfect, and as far as we can... more

My wife and I were really happy staying here. Probably the best part is your innkeepers. They are Canadian and I think Austrian. We were traveling across Japan, staying at ryokans, and in the midst of this “full emersion,” it was nice to “come up for air” for a few days for a good western breakfast (NOT fish and rice)... more

We just ended a six-day stay at Casa Carinho B&B in Kyoto and would recommend it for visitors not seeking high levels of luxury. The Canadian proprietor is affable, provides either a Western or Japanese breakfast, and offers excellent tourism advice. His recommendations to use our JR Passes to visit Himeji Castle and the Miho Museum, each less than an... more
