If you can afford to stay here, this place is wonderful. From the traditional tatami rooms (sleeping on futons), beautiful gardens, wonderful hinoki o-furo (bath) and spectacular meals (tempura the first night, shabu-shabu the second night), the experience was amazing. Even got to see a geisha, who was entertaining in one of the guest's rooms.

You should not be in a hurry when coming to Yoshikawa. Just sit back and enjoy the outstanding service and attention to detail provided at this unique Ryokan in the middle of Tokyo. You will be have a heartfelt welcome (mostly in Japanese - little English is spoken) and tea by the fire before checking in to your room, where... More

This was our very first Ryokan experience. We very much enjoyed it, although we were a bit intimidated at first. We had a nice room on the first floor, in the corner. Quiet and peaceful, with a nice view of the garden. The room was not large, but this is pretty much par for the course with Ryokans. Service was... More

A great “experience” to spend some time in an old traditional ryokan, but it is as I just mentioned “old” and the amenities do not justify its price, neither the service. Furthermore, their billing practices, itemizing every single tea, bottle of water, snack or cup of tea and, to top it off, charging an outrageous 15% service charge on everything... More

From the moment we walked in, we felt like we left modern Japan behind. The hospitality was warm but professional, the breakfast remarkable (both Western and Japanese) and the attention to detail when we dined at the Inn was reflective of the culture. They upgraded us to 2 rooms when they realised it was a booking for 5 and the... More

This is one of the best ryokans I've ever stayed in. We were there for 2 nights and it was such a wonderful experience. First and foremost is the people who took care of us. (A special thank you to Ms. Yoko for taking such good care of my mom!) But really, I have to say the entire staff was... More

I love this quint little restaurant specializing in tempura. They don't accept reservations for lunch, so I recommend you go early. We were lucky to have seats immediately upon arriving at 1.30pm (believe their last order for lunch is 2.30pm). Thereafter, at least 10 others were waiting behind us. The restaurant sits 12 around the bar and Chef Okita works... More

We loved it all. Yoshikawa gets 5+ stars If you want have a Japanese experience then stay here. Since the moment you arrive beautiful woman greet you with their sweet smiles. Everything was amazing: The service, the welcoming, the presentation of the dishes, the comfy futons and of course the food. We even had a foot warmer heater in our... More

We stayed at Yoshikawa for one night during our recent stay in Kyoto and would highly recommend it as a once in a lifetime experience. We had the large beautiful upstairs (traditional Japanese) 3 room suite on the second floor that overlooks the garden. From the moment we stepped inside we were pampered with wonderful service and excellent meals. The... More

After staying at the Hyatt I was a bit apprehensive about a Ryokan stay. But this Inn does not disappoint. The entrance is small and the stairs steep but the rooms and service are both excellent. Our room was upstairs (after navigating the very steep stairs) with three tatami rooms and of course the wooden tub in the bathroom. Individual... More
