I have waited a long time to stay at this hotel, but when it finally happened I was disappointed. Yes it is meant to be a retreat of sorts from the modern world, but it has just not kept up with the times. Only 2 English channels in a hotel that entertains an international clientele. No coffee in the room... More

Stayed from Mar 21 – 24, Personally this hotel is totally over exaggerated in terms of price and quality of service compared to other hotels in Japan (stayed Hyatt Osaka, Grand Hyatt Tokyo, Park Hyatt Tokyo Conrad, etc). Also I stayed Intercontinental Osaka (Mar 20) before I stayed this hotel. The reasons are as follow; - Nothing is particular in... More

Hyatto as the Hyatt Regency is called in Kyoto is a nice modern and comfortable hotel. While it retains the usual brand characteristics, there are nice Japanese touches. There is nothing absolutely outstanding here but compared to other hotels in town, it's an island of serenity. The concierge service is outstanding for booking restaurants and train tickets and helping navigate... More

We really enjoyed Kyoto with all the cultural and heritage sites in and around Kyoto. After 5 days we have not seen everything but visited so many wonderfull places with exposure to the Japanese culture and cuisine. But it was great to get back to the hotel in the afternoon. The service was friendly and efficient. The rooms were smallish... More

Smallish room, with lovely view over trees and garden. Right next door to temple. Not in center of town, but 5 minute walk to subway station. High quality breakfast buffet, good coffee. Clean, quiet rooms with comfortable beds. Tried the acupunture massage in the hotel's spa. Very relaxing. High caliber spa facilities. Only complaint that there is no swimming pool.... More

Despite a well appointed location near a major shrine, the Hyatt Regency in Kyoto has more in common with a 3 star Best Western than a 5 star luxury hotel. As soon as you step into the lobby there is an immediate feeling of a hotel that is more interested in charging through the nose for everything it can take... More

This hotel is near 3 temples, near bus routes and sub stations. Although it is away from the main shopping area, you can easily get there with about 7 dollars by taxi, which are always available. The breakfast, unless included is expensive ¥33,000 (approximately $33). The service is excellent, you have movies to rent, bath salts, as some of the... More

I stayed here for a few nights recently whilst visiting Kyoto and it's a great Hotel with everything you need. It's centrally located and handy for getting around. Very clean rooms, very comfy, maybe slightly basic but thats the Japanese style. The restaurants were both excellent and served good quality food. Great staff and concierge were excellent and very helpful... More

We stayed in this very pleasant hotel for 2 nights. As we wished to see as many sights as possible, we asked the advise of the concierge desk. A lovely agent, speaking perfect English, gave us super ideas and took in the weather forecast as a great guiding factor. Without her advise we would not have seen so many places... More

Had 3 nights here off the back of 4 nights at the Grand Hyatt in Tokyo. You shouldn't really compare the both as they’re essentially different brands, but you do notice the difference and can’t help but compare them both. Firstly, location. It’s not central, and is about a 10 min cab ride from Kyoto’s main train station. Whilst it’s... More
