The Hyatt Regency in Kyoto is a very good hotel. It is well positioned near to interesting landmarks and is within easy walking and taxi distance for downtown and shopping precincts. The rooms are clean, relatively spacious for a Japanese hotel and the staff are helpful and oriented towards great service. The restaurants in the hotel are reasonable value, although... More

We stayed at the Hyatt for 6 nights after reading reviews on TA and were impressed with the service and facilities at the hotel. The concierge and reception staff were friendly and helpful, providing a map of Kyoto and pointing out some of the main attractions and places to visit. They also helped us to find the best shopping areas,... More

We spent four nights at the end of November beginning of December to see the fall colors. We were last here in 2010. This is, still, an extremely comfortable, well-designed, stylish hotel. We were very happy to return. Alas, it was tough to book a room as it was high season in Kyoto for leaf peepers. Believe it or not,... More

Decided to forgo a Ryokan as I'm 31weeks pregnant and didn't quite fancy trying to get myself up off the floor each time. So we opted for the Hyatt Regency as our normal hotel of choice would be the Hilton/Conrad chain (points based loyalty!). From the outside the hotel looks like a red brick school prison but fortunately the inside... More

Stayed at a few Hyatt properties in the past and this was my first time staying at this amazing and super comfortable hotel. I liked the lobby which was designed in a minimalist wood theme and felt welcoming, although the lighting seemed a little too "red". There was this mild scent of ginger in the lobby which was really great... More

We stayed for three days during the red leaves season (end of November) Amazing stay. The room is very simple and minimalist at first sight but has all and more bell and whistles you could expect from an hotel like this one.Their restaurant Touzan is incredible. The staff is amazingly nice and available to help you in any possible thing... More

We've been here a couple of times. it really is as good as the reviews here make out. Rooms spotless and quiet. Staff admirable. Restaurants and breakfasts exceptional. English spoken. Excellent bar downstairs playing jazz and Motown and serving good cocktails. Easy to book online. Lovely grounds. Good location. Even by Japanese standards this is a very good hotel indeed.

Stayed here in November on holiday, and the first thing that stood out: this is no ordinary Hyatt Regency. The hotel is run a little more high-end, from the decor (loved the minimalist, blond wood theme), to the service (great full service, from breakfast to the concierge). I highly recommend staying here (assuming you don't want to try a ryokan).... More

Previously I noted that this hotel was the best....in Japan! Well managed, great concierge desk, fine breakfast, rooms with great views. Now I emphasize its location - across from the new wing of the Kyoto National Museum, an added attraction. Also in favor of the location - Sanjusangendo and Chishakuin are both short (one block) walks away, and Tofukuji, glorious... More

Under 10 minute cab ride from Kyoto Station, five minute walk to the north/south train line, the perfect location for for visiting some of the best temples and shrines in Kyoto. Also, just across the street from the Nation Museum. Service is exceptional. Ranks up there with the Hyatt Regency in New Dehli. I am not sure why others reviewers... More
