We stayed at the Westin Kyoto for 3 nights. Because we stayed during the peak season, the rates were insanely high given the quality of the property ($360/night). The lobby is really grand and beautiful - but deceiving because the rooms are dated with dirty carpet. There was no Heavenly Bed, which was really disappointing. The bathroom was clean and... More

We stayed at the Westin Kyoto for one night and were supposedly "upgraded" to a junior suite. While the lobby was beautiful, the rooms were not up to the standard that I've expected of a Westin. I think this hotel has really gotten comfortable with being rated a top hotel in Kyoto, with rich history near the subways, and invested... More

Was perfect until a "nightclub" started band practice below us... Thought this was a good quiet hotel... Offered a new room but it was nearly 9PM and we were TRYING to have an early night due to early travel the next morning. Not recommended if you have children or have an early start.

Though a bit far from Gion, this hotel is close to the Philosopher's Path and some of Kyoto's best temples and dining options. And while it could use new carpeting, it is comparable to other Westin properties. My main complaint is that they charge to use the pool, which is totally ridiculous.

We had a comfortable stay here but we did find this hotel didn't meet the Westin standard we are used to. Small outdated rooms, had to walk through smoking room sections to get to our non-smoking room (these should really be on a separate floor altogether). The shuttle is also difficult to locate and didn't come in the 30 minutes... More

The Westin in Kyoto is a larger property, mainly catering to business travellers, conferences and tourist groups. It is located outside the downtown area therefore very quiet and peaceful. A lot of Kyoto's attractions (e.g. shrines) can be reached within walking distance and the well trained concierge desk will provide further ideas and tips if required. Check- in was professional... Excellent stay there in November. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The guest rooms were very nicely kept and spacious. The location of the hotel was quite convenient although not in the middle of town. The main breakfast was huge with lots of options for both Western and Chinese guests, but I would recommend the Japanese breakfast which is... More

Rather late review on this hotel that my girlfriend and i stayed for 2 nights. We actually did one night in the executive room and one night in the traditional Japanese room. Both room was equally good probably the more comfortable was the executive, but the traditional room really oozes in tradition and is a good experience to have. Staff... More

The Westin is a large business hotel located in a quieter part of Kyoto yet with good access to the subway and within walking distance to several shrines as well as an interesting modern art museum. The concierge desk was very, very helpful in making a variety of arrangements for our entire trip to Japan. The room we initially were... More

Very nice hotel. We were a family of 4 with 2 small kids. Stayed in a deluxe twin. The room was very clean and well furnished, and appeared to have been refurbished not too long ago. The bathroom was great with a separate shower area and bath which is extremely useful when you have 2 small kids and everyone wants... More
