We stayed 3 nights cash and points in June and had a very good stay. I'll start by adding that we were upgraded to one of the 5th floor rooms with a walk out balcony and nice view of the city, and which had been updated. A non-updated, non-upgraded room could be different. The hotel was built in at least... more

Just a short walk from Gion and many great temples/ gardens this is a good location to base yourself in. There was a error made by the travel agent when booking which Westin staff didn't seem to want to resolve which soured my mood somewhat. Room and indeed the entire hotel was a tired around the edges - bathroom looked... more

We stayed here right after a few days at the Rihga Royal in Kyoto, and this was much nicer. We were lucky to get bumped up from a superior to a deluxe double, but the deluxe was way more than we needed. Very large room, huge bed with excellent matress, and large bathroom. I think the superior would probably have... more

There are so many mixed reviews here, however I believe the problem is that folks expect more out of a 4 star hotel. I travel all over the world and frankly, am experiencing that the 3 stars are a 3+ and the 4's are a 4-. Unless you stay in a 5 star like the Four Seasons you really cannot... more

THIS was the Westin??? Have you ever felt like you have just entered the nursing home lobby of your elderly relative to meet them for lunch. That is exactly what the room is like right off the lobby where guests with access to the Executive Lounge goto get drinks and snacks (if you can call those snacks), or to go... more

There were some pluses and minuses to this hotel. First of all, there was a shuttle that ran from the Kyoto train station to the hotel, which was nice, but was not well marked. We were able to ask a police officer and were pointed in the right direction, but I'm not sure we would have found it otherwise. The... more

I visited Japan in the month of May 2009 and I started off with Kyoto. I stayed at the Miyako for 2 days and I found this hotel quite average. I stayed in a room whose view was obstructed by a hillock. On arrival I found that the toilet spray did not work.On compalining they send a technician who further... more

We booked the Westin Miyako Kyoto Hotel because someone wrote that it was centrally located to everything. It's not. It is though, very convenient to Gion which is a place you should visit to see the Maiko and Geisha-san. Maiko is an apprentice and Geisha is a professional. Gion is a 10-15 min. walk. You would usually only see them... more

This was our first trip to Kyoto. We stayed the Westin for 3 nights at the end of May. Like another person, the hotel is not quite like other Westins in the US. Since I'm Gold, I was upgraded to the "luxury" suite but it wasn't that luxurious. It was old with outdated carpet. It did a separate room and... more

Not up to the standard of other Westin hotels I have stayed in, but still a nice room. Great location for seeing some of the Kyoto temples. The pool was highly chlorinated; don't try it without goggles. Concierge not as familiar with Kyoto public transit as might have been expected. There is a special bus #101 that will stop at... more
