I've stayed at many Westin's around the world and never regretted it until now. Apparently the Miyako company simply bought the name and SPG is OK with it (even though there's a big ad for the Osaka Miyako Marriott in the lobby). They should know, however, that it taints the entire brand. My "superior" non-smoking room was superior in name... More

I stayed here with my partner in October for 6 nights on a business and pleasure trip. First of all I would like to say that this SPG hotel is very nice. Good spacious rooms, a good selection food and restaurants and polite staff. It was also very close to a metro station which meant being able to get around... More

Stayed here with the family for 3 days and found the hotel very comfortable. Rooms slightly dated but clean, comfortable and quiet. Nice views over Kyoto from the balcony. Tried the restaurants in the hotel and all good although a little pricey. Hotel is a taxi ride from the station and Gion but walking distance to many tourist sites and... More

Very close to the main sites and very quiet at night. The nearest subway is a few minute walk, so it's very convenient for going into town (please note: the surrounding area has very few dining options at night, so you need to get on the train and within a few stops you're in town). Although certain areas of this... More

Seems the hotel could use some tender loving care and a detail focus, but overall still has great bones. The tennis court a good example of run down. Not in town itself, but the location still very good for historical sites and walkability. Downtown is not far away this is not a large area to do the tourist stuff. Our... More

The hotel is slightly dated however it has a very homely Japanese feel about it. We opted to stay in a traditional Japanese room where you sleep on futons/tatami and get to experience the bamboo bucket bath. Yup, when in Japan live like the Japanese. The room has a small rice paper sheet door that opens up to natural lighting... More

The hotel is excellent , very clean, quite, breakfast is unbelivable they serve all type of breakfast in a buffet so if you want you can try the Japanese style , I strongly recommend their... More

A large hotel well connected with metro station nearby n the bus service. Has free shuttle from the station and to the city center. We enjoyed the stay. The staff is courteous. The bar experience was very good. The pool n spa are nice too.

My entire hotel experience was tarnished by concierge trickery. I usually put enormous amount of effort into researching restaurants wherever and whenever I travel; this time unfortunately, staying only 36 hours, I had not done so. I asked the concierge to reserve for me the best Sushi and Kobe beef restaurants in Kyoto for my two consecutive nights. They told... More

This is a large hotel which looks a little austere from outside, the slightly elevated site helps give many rooms nice views over the city or towards the mountains. Service is very good as expected for a Westin / Starwood group hotel. The rooms are spacious, clean and mostly well equipped. It takes a bit of time to find your... More
