I stayed at the Westin Miyako for 2 nights in January 2012. The hotel is conveniently located a 2 minute walk from the Keage subway stop, and also has a free shuttle service to and from Kyoto Station. The front desk staff is friendly and proficient in English, which is not always guaranteed in Japan. The rooms are clean, modern,... More

We spent 3 nights at the westin miyako and were happy with our stay. THe hotel staff was very helpful and proficient in english. We rented bycycles from the hotel which were available at separate desk near the lobby and were reasonably priced. The location of the hotel was great as it was next to the trees and some treking... The Westin Miyako is a behemoth of a hotel in Kyoto. Don't expect old world charm, etc. It's a large property with no soul. That being said it's extremely comfortable and the location is great. There are lots of restaurant choices with some great food. Our favourite part was the bikes that can be rented to explore Kyoto. This, my... More

The biggest room that we saw in Japan exist in this hotel. It is the best one in Kyoto. I suggest you to have an early morning walk around the temples close to the hotel. Location is superb! More

Photos of leaders/famous people who have been there gave it a feel of being a grand old hotel which was kind of nice. Our room had a beautiful view of the mountains and the city. You should ask for it though. The initial room appointed to us had no view. The hotel bar was great too -- had that nice... More

I stayed here when I lived in Japan and was visiting Kyoto for a few days while my family was in town. The location is very good, you can walk to several shrines and temples, as well as great museums, nearby. Down the street there are some great little restaurants worth checking out- delicious food! They also have a really... More

Great place to end our trip. Hard to find with GPS though. Took us to the back roads and walking route. Charged ¥1000 for carpark though. Good access up to reception via escalator from carpark. Free shuttle to town in 5mins but ends at 8pm. Then you need to take taxi or subway ¥210 for two stops back to hotel.... More

Stayed at the Westin Miyako Kyoto for 4 nights and it was a great home base for exploring Kyoto as well as Osaka. Kyoto is a little difficult to explore due to the lack of subways and trains and the congested traffic so no matter where you stay, expect to spend quite a bit of time traveling between all the... I was given an old room for this stay. Small, cramp, totally unlike other Westin properties I've stayed in. The bathroom was alright, but I was expecting much better. Everything was clean and the hotel service staff were generally pleasant, but the room was pure letdown. The location was so so. There was a shuttle bus to Gion and Kyoto... More

This hotel's greatest asset is its manager, Mr. Suter. I don't know when he sleeps, because he seemed to be roaming the hotel, speaking to guests, so much of the time. If you have a problem, he will address it. At first sight, this hotel looks a bit tired and very confusing from the outside. It looks huge, it could... More
