My wife and our 3 children spent a week at the Gojo Guest house. What a great experience! We stayed in the triple room, which is at the back of the property. It was very quiet, and we especially loved the sliding paper and glass windows. We ended up having breakfast there almost every morning, a nice thick piece of... More

Stayed here with 2 friends in November 2013 and wished I could have stayed there longer! I started looking for places much too late, and was lucky enough that a room suddenly freed up here. A private room for all three of us! (advice: book early) The staff is extremely helpful, there is a bar downstairs where you can drink... More

Stayed here two times, and will always come back! This was the second accommodation we tried in Kyoto, and we were totally blown away. From a thoroughly enjoyable few beers with the bar staff and owners the day we arrived, so immaculate and spacious rooms on both our stays, Gojo Guest house is an experience you just can't afford to... When I was visiting Kyoto I was looking to have a more traditional Japanese experience. I found Gojo and was more than happy. Everything in this guesthouse was steeped in tradition from the front door to your bed. I would highly recommend Gojo if you're after traditional. I loved my time here and the staff were saints as well!

We spend 4 nights in a twin traditional (futons) room, as a couple. Bedroom was quiet clean, we had clean bed sheets whenever we wanted. Toilets and shower rooms are spartiats but for low budget travelers, it's ok. I used the public bath map and tried all of them around. I loved it. Best part of the Gojo's guest house... More

Really loved this place! Had a double room and you had to spread your own bed but its a nice experience. Remember to remove and return the bedsheets for cleaning before checking out. Room was clean and comfortable. Wifi connection was good through the entire guesthouse. They even have a common laptop and ipad at their lobby for public use... More

When I visited Gojo I was new to this type of travel and shared rooms. I stayed in the male dorm and it reminded me of when I was a kid going to camp. My overall experience at Gojo was very good. The place was clean, the staff was quiet but helpful, the location was great. I also found it... More

I stayed in the male dorm early june 2013, overall nice place with excellent staff who all spoke outstanding english. Traditional style very nice with tatami & screens, and I met nice people in my room. Overall a good value, only criticisms would be: -replace sleeping mats with thicker/firmer ones, ive stayed in other tatami hotels where I didnt feel... More
